Travel Tip: Trencin Castle, one of the most impressive castles in Slovakia

in #traveltip6 years ago (edited)

Dear Steemit friends and followers,

Welcome to my Travel Tip series where I promote some of the most beautiful places, interesting landmarks and impressive architectural sites of my homeland, the Czech Republic.

Today, however, I will make a little exception as I will take you to our eastern neighbors to show you one of their most beautiful castles, the famous Trencin Castle.

Located in the town of the same name (Trencin) in the western part of Slovakia, close to the Czechoslovakian border, the Trencin Castle is a majestic medieval castle that was probably found in the 10th or 11th century. Nevertheless, some historians argue that a predecessor of the Trencin Castle (as we know it today) might have been built on the same spot as early as in the 2nd century during the Roman Empire.

Throughout its remarkably long and rich history, the castle has witnessed numerous important events, royal and noble families as well as battles and sieges. There are also many myths and legends associated with this magnificent building, making it a hotspot for fans of mythology and dark tourism.

Listed as one of the National Cultural Monuments of Slovakia, the castle is also home to the Trencin Museum that documents the history and culture of the castle and the whole Trencin Region. With over 100,000 visitors annually, the castle is one of the most popular and tourist attractions in the area and it is definitely worth a visit if you are around.

I am going to check the post and pay my dues:).....

A wonderful castle with an amazing view. It is the third largest castle in Slovakia after Spis and Bratislava.

It is a great piece of the historical architect and a beautiful place to spend your time. It would be nice if you visit this place with your friends and family. As you told it is listed on the National Monuments, I can say it really worths it to be at that list. The number of visitors is also huge and we can imagine its worth from that too.

Trencin Castle does indeed looks really beautiful and sure is a rich architectural heritage !

The perfect place for the tourists indeed !

Hi @czechglobalhosts, Firstly I want to ask from you, What country's ownership indeed for Trencin Castle. Is it Czech or Slovakia?
However most oldest & fabulous architecture included in those castle. Seriously incredible creation top of the mountain and if you go there you can see awesome landscaping view. Absolutely brilliant travel introduction from you Thomas. Thanks.

Well Tomas, I do believe that Trencin Castle is one of the best place to witness the historic architectural of the Slovakian culture. As this castle has absorbed the various traditional and historic events.

Throughout its remarkably long and rich history, the castle has witnessed numerous important events, royal and noble families as well as battles and sieges.

The location of this Castle is also very much important for the tourist point of view.

Thanks lot for this informational tip :)

Like your own country, your neighbor is also very beautiful. The castle is located in a very high place and is surrounded by greenery. Despite the fact it is a very ancient place it is standing tall and is still in a good condition. Thanks for sharing this beautiful tip with us, Tomas. :)

Hah it seems to be in the good condition but like 10 years ago, the main big wall has fallen down...it was pretty dangerous as the castle is exactly ABOVE the city centre...check the picture, you can clearly see on the right side where the wall tore and fell..and it went al lthe way to the left side:

Btw it's my hometown :)

Nice, great to have a click from the homie:)....

It would be amazing to do a photoshoot in that castle!
