4 (Four) Dutch Generals killed during the Aceh war

The Aceh war against the dutch almost quarter century brought grief to both sides, from the aceh forces and Dutch troops. For the dutch war aceh is the darkest war history in their historical record, even four of the generals who have stepped on their feet to the land of rencong died either because of direct war or mental burden and even died suddenly, following four Dutch generals who died during the aceh war. 

 1. Johan Harmen Rudolf Köhler 

Köhler was killed in the First Aceh War on April 14, 1873 during the inspection after reoccupying the Baiturrahman Great Mosque which had previously been occupied by the Acehnese warriors. At that time he was hit by a bullet right in the heart. His body was taken to Singapore by steamer Koning der Nederlanden and buried in Tanah Abang Cemetery, Batavia with military honor (in 1976 the cemetery was evicted and after 2 years hanging at the Dutch Embassy finally Köhler's body was buried in Kerkhoff, Banda Aceh on the proposal Governor of Aceh at the time, Abdullah Muzakir Walad). His position as supreme commander in the first expedition was replaced by Col. E.C. van Daalen.
To mark Kohler's death, on August 14, 1988, the Aceh government and its governor Ibrahim Hasan built a memorial memorial at Kohler's death site under a tree in front of the Baiturrahman Great Mosque of Banda Aceh.

 2. Johannes Ludovicius Jakobus Hubertus Pel 

Johannes Ludovicius Jakobus Hubertus Pel (born in Maastricht, The Netherlands, January 10, 1823 - died in Aceh Besar, Sultanate of Aceh, 23 February 1876 at the age of 53) was a Dutch military figure commander in Kutaraja (center of defense) under Jend. Jan van Swieten who later succeeded him as major general. After that Pel was appointed as civil and military ruler in Aceh.

After the defeat experienced by May. Joost Hendrik Romswinckel during the Second Aceh War, Dutch troops returned to Batavia (now Jakarta) on April 26, 1874. Stay Jend. Pel who is in a difficult position because it must take care of the situation of the troops are shambles and morilnya decreased. In addition to the deaths of war, many also died from tropical diseases and cholera. In addition, access to the sea was also hampered by bad weather, Dutch tombs were ransacked by Acehnese warriors. Not to mention the night raid by the Aceh warriors.

 3. Henry Demmeni 

 Henry Demmeni was born on September 5, 1830 in Mulhouse, started his career in Aceh as the Governor of Civil and Military of Aceh in 1884. When demmeni served as governor of the Aceh region was outbreak of war with the spirit of prang sabi, which was echoed Teungku Chik Ditiro until one by one the fortress successfully controlled fighters aceh. The Netherlands is finally squeezed around the city of Banda Aceh by using the concentration line tactics (concentratie stelsel) which is to create a castle that surrounds the territory that still controlled.
Plus the betrayal event of Teuku Umar and the assault and hostage of the vessels Nicero and Hoc Conton in Teunom. The confused Demmeni dispatched teuku umar to free the ship and sandra of the Nicero Ship belonging to England in teunom, but the opposite happened where teuku umar killed 32 Dutch troops who joined him with the bengkulen ship and joined the king of teunom.
The Dutch were deeply shaken by the event. Finally, the Dutch were forced to pay King Teunom's demands. On September 10, 1884, the ship Nicero and 18 crew members were freed with a ransom of 10,000 dollars.
With the defeat and the great events he experienced, the year 1886 demmeni attacked by high fever sjangkit severe disease can not move, in the end demmeni resign from his position to seek treatment to Paya Kumbuh West Sumatra, before arriving to Demmeni Hospital died.

 4. Jan Jacob Karel de Moulin 

 Jan Jacob Charles Moulin (Maastricht, December 13, 1845 - King's City, 8 July 1896) Major General appointed on June 21, 1896 was appointed Governor of Civil and Military in Aceh and Dependency. During the 18 days of serving moulin rumored dutch died suddenly on July 8, 1896 in the Kuta raja.
