My Tour to Andaman and Nicobar, India’s Treasure Islands
I have been to Andaman and Nicobar islands this summer. Out of it’s 8249 Sq.km geographical area , 7171 Sq.km is of forest and out of which 3279 Sq.km is tribal reserved area. It is a paradise of 572 islands out of which only 37 are inhabited. So, this is the India with Crystal clear beaches, underwater sports, corals, untouched dense jungles, culture, history and Heritage, a rare all in one package.
From Chennai airport we landed to Veer Savarkar Airport, Port Blair to start our tour. Our stay at Port Blair was at Andaman and Nicobar Islands Integrated Development Corporation Limited’s Megapode Resort. A superb place in vicinity to Bay of Bengal and the Port Blair harbor.
In evening it was historic nostalgic visit to cellular jail. A place built far away from mainland India to keep exile political prisoners. It is a mute witness of great Indian freedom fight. Every cell and wing of this place talks to you about tortures, fight and struggle of freedom fighters.
A great historical place.
Next day it was time to visit North Bay island, an hourly distance from Port Blair by ferry from Rajiv Gandhi Water sports Complex. North Bay is a place reach in underwater corals and best for underwater activities.
It was indeed a great experience to observe underwater corals and marine life. We tried two options for that one was glass bottom boat and another snorkeling. As I am not a professional photographer, was carrying ordinary camera and managed to get few snapshots of corals through magnifying glass of boat.
In Evening we visited Ross Island. Once administrative headquarters of the islands. Remnants and ruins on this island carry you into very different mood of history. One can experience the old colonial days on this islands with spectacular light and sound show.
Next day we went to Havelock, one of the largest and most beautiful island situated 57Km from Port Blair. A beautiful three hour journey by M.V.Makruzz, a luxury catamaran with state of the art craft service between port blair and Havelock.
At Havelock we stayed at Dolphin Resort. This is the most beautiful resort exactly on picturesque Vijaynagar beach with huge trees and dense forest surrounding.
Andamani Trees in Campus of Resort were Really Huge………..
Really Really Huge…………………
We were exactly on vijay nagar beach. The pristine untouched beauty of this beach makes it must visit spot for persons in quest of solace and nature’s beautiful landscape. One can enjoy go walking or boating alone in this calm sea, a safe place. Spend your time with your favourite book, sea and best food.
Radha Nagar Beach, dense jungle on shore, beautiful curvy shape, unforgettable white sand with perfect blue waters have made this place Asia’s best and world’s 7th best beach. Very popular but still not so crowded. Must must must visit. We Spend quality time here.
Next day we visited to Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park. This marine national park consists of 15 Islands with total area of 281.50 Sq.Km having 60.0 Sq.Km land and 221.50 Sq.Km of Territorial waters. Out of 15 islands in park only two islands are open for tourist. Jolly Buoy for six months and Red Skin for six months.
We visited Jolly Buoy Island Crystal clear waters with richest marine diversity. What to say about this place.. out of words experience. Just throw your eyes anywhere……. surrounding, on the water or under water…… Beauty Beauty and Beauty ….an everlasting experience.
Jolly Buoy Island is located in Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park, which is one hour from wandoor jetty. This jetty is 30Kms from Port Blair.
The Most beautiful tour I ever had with blissful of sea, Crystal clear waters, beaches, jungles, tribes and off course the great Indian snacks and food.
I hope you too will enjoy this incredible islands.
