For the purposes of comparison:
The current Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, is a graduate of West Point and served 41 years in uniform. Prior to assuming the post of Secretary of Defense, Austin retired as a four-star Army general after three years as the commander of CENTCOM.
The incoming Secretary of Defense has no significant military leadership experience outside of a couple of stints as an infantry platoon leader. His primary qualifications for the role of Secretary of Defense are several years spent as the co-host of “FOX and friends”
