This literally happened with the Trump campaign.
The campaign vetted the set of the "comedian" who said Black people "carve watermelons" for Halloween, that Puerto Rico is an island of "floating garbage", that Latinos don't pull out and "come inside" just like they did to the United States, and that Palestinians throw rocks and Jews are cheap, among other hateful things.
The campaign rejected a "joke" that was going to call Kamala Harris the c-word. They were fine with the rest.
The joke in question was related to this: https://www.theenvironmentalblog.org/2024/10/puerto-rico-trash-problem/
Having said that, he does make fun of racial stereotypes. He's a comedian after all. Racism is about treating people differently because of their race/origin/etc. Not about making fun of a stereotype. Is he racially insensitive? Maybe... But how sensitive are you supposed to be, especially as a comedian? Are jokes about race, religion, etc. just out of the question?
Do people seriously believe that this joke (or any of the others) was said out of racism and hate towards the people of Puerto Rico?
Ridiculous. This is one of the reasons I think Kamala and Democrats in general are likely to suffer big losses this time around. To them EVERYTHING is about racism...It's getting old. There is real racism in the world but not everything is about hate. I think Biden's response about Trump supporters being garbage is much worse. He isn't joking.
