The internet roasts Trump for being himself

Donald Trump has responded to questions about his intelligence by jumping on Twitter and insisting that he is “like, very smart” and “a very stable genius” — something I think we can all agree is like, a very smart and stable genius thing to do.

Trump was fired up about Michael Wolff’s new book, Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, which paints him as childish, unintelligent and wholly unqualified. In a column for The Hollywood Reporter ahead of the book’s release, Wolff said that the entire White House staff had come to believe that the President was “incapable of functioning in his job.” Which is, y’know, not remotely terrifying at all!

On Saturday, having failed to block the book’s release with heavy-handed legal threats, Trump took to Twitter to vent his frustration.

“Throughout my life, my two greatest assets have been mental stability and being, like, really smart,” he tweeted. “I went from VERY successful businessman, to top T.V. Star…to President of the United States (on my first try). I think that would qualify as not smart, but genius….and a very stable genius at that!”
