Vector Illustration Tutorial

So today I want to explain vector Illustration. Vectors regarding the arts are designs, Illustrations and etc. made using polygons. These are achieve using certain graphic software such as Adobe illustrator, AdobePhotoshop, Adobe After Effects, Blender and etc.
Today I will be using Adobe Illustrator and the image we will be using is none other than....

Dwayne The Rock Johnson!!

Now let's get started. There are various ways to go about Illustrating a person. You just need to find a style that works best for and keeps you excited.
Yes I said 'keeps you excited', personally I get bored quickly and that affects my work, so you need to find the style you are most comfortable with.

Some people prefer to use line work... basically that's outlining the entire image, sort of what you see in comics. This makes things easier when coloring in. This is my style...

This is done on a separate layer above the image layer.
As is seen, it's not the entire image outlined coz it's not my style but might be yours. Do experiment.

Note: in order to make what you've seen, I used the pen tool, it's pretty straight forward and perfect for things such as these. Just start with a point, move along your desired path and complete it by returning to your first point.

Once you've completed your outline work (or are satisfied and will return to it later), you create a new layer for skin tones. Here you will make a path outlining the entire figure or at least where you want certain tones to be. if you're one to get confused with various objects shown on your screen then I advise you hide active layers you don't need. Be sure to keep the layer under the outline layer. This is mine...

I advise starting with two tones first. A dark and light, a midtone can be included anytime when comfortable.

Once done with that you can view the outline layer on the tone layer and see how things go. It went well...
