A Hollow Protest- Writers Block Poetry Contest Week 4
Damp it up with cream, cover it up with powder,
Color it up profoundly until it seems natural,
How old are you? Shh, just let them wonder.
Remove everything green, concrete is better,
Firm and solid, secure and durable,
See skyscrapers rise, awesome head turners.
Manual no more, too much of a bother,
Stock up on gasoline, tacos and power,
You and your engines will need it forever.
This is what life is all about, or is it really?
Wishing for things eternal in a life short-lived,
A melancholic image of human desperation.
We don’t want tragic or happy endings,
We want indestructability and immortality,
In a helpless planet slowly reduced into ash.
Much like how the brain refuses to accept death,
After machines in white robes had given up.
Just like how a fungus tries to save up
Whatever was left of a lifeless carcass.
Thank you for taking the time to read. :)
Nice poem... It really portrays human life... Everyone wants to live forever and look forever young so that they can amass all the wealth of this earth but we all know it can never be so... Great job. Keep steeming
thank you so much..
Appreciate the quote from Sai Baba. I've come to know one of his devotee's, Jagadguru Sai Maa. Quite the lady. Anyway, your poem put out the energy of , what? Cynicism? Anger? Frustration? I get the sense you are much more, but then again change won't occur unless we feel discontent. Please forgive me for being so forward. Blessings.
Indeed it was out of frustration, sir. For a moment it felt like the downfall of humanity is irreversible and change would only be for the worse, but i never lost hope. Though I'm not sure how we'd go about saving whatever was left... perhaps we're really doomed.... haha... and anyway, you dont have to apologize for being so forward, in fact I appreciate that. 😊😊 thanks for reading.
You know it seems to me that the forces of evil are strengthening, however, the forces of good, I believe, are getting stronger too. Steemit is one of those things that gives me hope. Blessings
