Twelve Hundred Spots for Basic Income Still Available.
Last spring the Ontario Government (province in Canada) launched the Ontario Basic Income Pilot. It was launched in three locations: Lindsay, Hamilton and Brant County, and Thunder Bay.
As of the end of February, a total of 2,783 people have been enrolled in the basic income pilot...
The Province is looking for those numbers to be capped at 4,000 participants, meaning there is about 1,200 people left to sign up.
- Potential recipients must have lived in the municipalities for at least the past twelve months
- 18 to 64 years old (for the entire duration of the three-year study)
- living on a low income (under $34,000 per year if you’re single or under $48,000 per year if you’re a couple)
This pilot hopes to replicate some of the improvements in outcomes found in other studies:
- food security
- stress and anxiety
- mental health
- health and healthcare usage
- housing stability
- education and training
- employment and labour market participation

its not money then not healthy wealthy very sad thing
While money will not make you happy, the disparity of wealth can drive people to misery. Long ago, a man had a choice. He could rise early, work hard and bring home to his family or do nothing and starve. Today that is not the case. Now not only do both men and women work outside of the home, frequently they barely support themselves. This is especially true in communities which are economically depressed. The economic depression is mainly due to mismanagement by the government or the reality that businesses are limited by the people in charge. It is in the best interest of companies like Walmart to hire as few people as possible, pay them as little as possible and to buy their products from suppliers who make the products with the cheapest labour available. Not all people have the drive to attain the top.
