Its been a while. I'm resuming after a short break with my first ULOG. A shout out and a huge thank you to @surpassingoogle for this opportunity. You are an inspiration to us all and an example of persistence.

I'm a teacher and love children. Today we had our music class. Teaching children has enabled me to know that each child has its capabilities. Though stressful, but you need to treat each child according to his gift and ability. I learnt that lesson today again.

I was done with my lesson and had left the kids to explore and practice the lesson on their own. Every one did fine except for Eddie. He's been having a little difficulty with chord changes. I had to give him a little more attention at the beginning of the class, but he still doesn't seem to get it. It's easy to right of such kids as just being dumb. It's not so! He just prefers to take things slow. What that simply means is that he needs more time, more attention and more love than the other children.

I'll be honest with you, sometimes I simply lose my patience. It's lots of stress.
But in the end, a teacher has to do what a teacher has to do.

I began by motivating the child. Words are powerful and when you motivate a child, when you make him feel like he is good, he naturally becomes good as the words sink into his subconscious. So then, For every note played well, for every chord played right and for every song played in time; I motivate, I commend and I applaud. Most time it works like magic and this time it didn't fail. After this I carefully aided him and corrected his mistakes. Finally, I made him repeat it as many times as possible till he couldn't get it wrong.

When he finally got his lesson, I boosted him some more and told him he did a good job. I felt relief. There's nothing as fulfilling as knowing that you have impacted a young life. I was so happy I asked him to pose for a selfie. He was super excited and gladly obliged.
