It's 25 years already since Nigeria held her first credible and most credible election till date. Bashorun Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola (M.K.O Abiola) won a decisive victory. Unfortunately, on the 23rd of June, 1993, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida who became the President of Nigeria by a coup through several lawsuits, annulled the election, throwing Nigeria into turmoil. A lot of people were killed before Babangida agreed to hand power to an interim government on August 27, 1993.

For the first time in Nigeria, general opinion moved in the same direction. Political analysts, Angry Nigerians, Activists all condemned the annulled elections and even dared military oppression. There was no ethnic differences. Unfortunately, these protests didn't last long before it began to witness strong political betrayal, the interest of the masses was selfishly jeopardized for political and financial grievances.

Till today, Nigeria is still plagued by the Remembrance of June 12, the ethnic sentiment that led to the death of June 12, '93 mandate. An agitation that was once a national concern suddenly became a South-west battle. The truth is that those who rule us don't rule with the will to serve, rather, they rule to be rich and satisfy their self interests.

Nigeria still remains a country at war with itself. Our democracy is best described as

Demonstration of craze by Animals in Human skin.

Late Fela Anikulapo Kuti said so. However, this present administration should be applauded for finally recognizing June 12 as the day of our true democracy, it is indeed a bold step that waited for long to be taken.

Hope was crushed under the boots and tanks of the military, but we are still marching. Hope is still alive. Nigeria would not forget the jingle that promised hope

Nigeria on the march again
On the march again
Looking for Mr. President
On the march again
Ogini! No Food, No House, No Work
The small small money I dey get na so so transport dey chop am
The sumall water we dey get na so do dirty dey full am
Haba! School oh na headache, hospital, no work, I taya for life oh
Mai broda wetin you dey look oh
Mai sista helepu don come
SDP, MKO, Kingibe Action!
Abiola Abiola Abiola progress!!
Na him be the hope o SDP na di party
To solve our problems and better awa life oh
MKO MKO MKO Action!
Abiola Abiola Abiola Progress!!
Na im be the hopu oh for a beta tomorrow!

The better tomorrow lies in a true and sincere leader democratically elected by the poor masses who would serve this great country Nigeria and restore it into glory.

I actually believe that the declaration of june 12 as democracy day could be another scam or an obvious plot birthed by desperation for another term.
