Ulog #20 - Curation League : What Have I Learnt (How to Get Twice Rewards From a Single Upvote Reveals)

Introduction

Hi dear Fellow Steemians and Uloggers,

Last month I participated to a curation league arranged by @paulag which is be held until now. At first I did not fully understood what is the purpose of the league and how to participate because I am a newbie. After a deep research I finally joined the league on the second week of the league carrying my basic SP 15.

Soon after my name approved to the league, I tried to follow all the instruction given. Participants were scored every friday to evaluate who gave the best curation. Three winners was choosen every week for 100 SP delegation from the author @paulag. As a newbie with lowest SP, I did not expect much but follow the rule. Becoming a winner was impossible for me.

Unexpectedly, after a week of my participation, my name appeared on the top 10 list of the league as shown below :

Although I was on the top 10, I wasn't eligible yet for the 100 SP delegation. A week after, my league position continued to rise up to 7th and I was eligible to recieved 100 SP delegation for 3 weeks from @paulag.

With the 100 delegated SP, and by following the instruction given, my earnings from curation was increasing consuderably. Two weeks after, I came to the 5th position of the league and eligible for another 100 SP delegation. Totally I was holding 200 SP with 100 SP expired within a week, and the rest 100 SP for the next 3 weeks. At that moment, my curation earnings rised significantly. I could earn up to $0.80 per day with my upvoting rewards.

When I was holding 200 SP, in order my curation benefit for minnows, and to use my upvote effectively, I offered upvotes to newbies dessiminated on a post. I did this offer to reach quality content from newbies that were not on my following list to be upvoted by me. This also to reflect my thankfulness receiving SP delegation from @paulag.

On the 6th week of the league, my position dropping to 6th position, but it rised again to the 2nd position on week 7 of the league and still holding 100 SP delegation for the last week (until week 8th). Since then my position was dropping gradually until yesterday @paulag announced that my position dropping out off the top 10. Simultaneously, my 100 SP was also expired. Now, my power is back to my basic 15 SP with zero $0.00 voting weight.

What Have I Learnt About Curation

Honestly speaking, the initial intention of my participation in the curation league was because of tempted by the SP delegation price from the author @paulag. However, on week 4 of the league, my purpose was changed not only because the SP delegation, but also to learn something new..., particularly after recieved 200 SP delegation. From my personal experiment of pursuing higher curation rewards, I found that I learnt new knowledges that I've never found from Steemit FAQ or from another Steemians' previous post related to curation method. Which is good for me! And I will share this new knowledges with you guys. Hereby what I got.

Planktons Unlikely to Get Curation Rewards

It is hardly possible that planktons could get curation rewards since they do not have voting weight when they curate a post. Well..., this is the system of Steemit platform. You have to accept it whether you like it or not. Every steemians have to face this phase. So if you are planktons/newbies..., eventhough you cannot get rewards, keep giving upvotes to get along with your communities.

The Greater Your SP The Higher Your Curation Rewards

We already know about this, the greater your SP, you would influence the platform more, your voting weight is greater, as a result you will get higher curation rewards. Therefore, For account whose SP under 100 like me... never vote exceeding to 25 votes per day...otherwise you will loose your voting weight that will cause you zero curation rewards.

The More The Voter, The Less you Get

It is the natural rule of life. The more you are in a party, the smaller you get your cake shares. As we me know in Steemit that 25% of a post income goes to the curators. The more the curators in a post, the lower you get your share. Therefore, if you want higher curation rewards, vote the newbies whose have less curators.

Voting Minnows Earns more Rewards Than Voting Whales

During 8 weeks of my participation on curation league, I tend to give my upvotes to minnows rather than to whales account. Why? Because my voting is worthless, the whales do not really need it. The $0.02 voting weight means nothing for them. In addition, whales already get huge income. But for minnows... it means a lot. So probably 90% of my votes during 8 weeks went to minnows, and 10% voted to whales to keep in touch with them. Ow...and don't forget, I always apply the 20 - 25 minutes curation method whenever giving upvote for both minnows and whales. Using data from steemd, it showed that the curation rewards from voting minnows were higher than voting whales.

From the steemd data above, you can see that my curation earning from voting @josediccus (minnow or dolphin) is higher than voting @whatageek (whale). This is because @whatageek has much more curators than @josediccus, thus the curation rewards will be shared to more people. In addition, I never got curation rewards from whale such as @surpassinggoogle or esteemapp which I always vote any of their posts. I have many other evidences from my curation rewards regarding this, but I wouldn't spend too much space of this article with my data screenshot. Therefore, if you want to get higher curation rewards..., give your upvote more to newbies.

Earning Twice Rewards From a Single Curation/Upvote

Last but no least, apparently you could get twice rewards from only giving a single upvote in term of increasing your curation rewardd. This is the most interesting part of this article. Why? Because a week ago, I run a comment contest using this topic with 0.200 SBD price. Many engaged in the contest, but all participants failed to answer on how to get twice rewards from a single upvote (even @paulag did not know the answer.... 😁😁😁 sorry mom...). I would like to thank for the anthusiasm of the participants on the contest. In this article I will reveal the answer.

Actually, this is a very simple way how you can get twice rewards from a single click vote. I am sure you have done it unconciously, but probably you did not pay attention once the Steemit sent the reward notification on Steemd. Steemd is a genious application as well as the founder I think. It shows any of activities in Steemit related to a steemian's account. Steemd will notify you who votes you including the percentage of an upvote, who comments on your post, your transfers activity, what rewards do you get, and many more. Now..., let me show you my Steemd data indicating that I got twice rewards from my single upvote to a post as seen on screenshot below:

It was a data from 9 days ago, I voted a post by @sudutpandang who made a post through dtube application. I upvoted his post within the range 20-25 minutes after he posted. From that single upvote, I recieved twice rewards (1 curation reward from Steemit, and another one from dtube). Look at the screenshot data above which I red-marked. First red-mark, dtube rewarded me $0.002 curator reward for upvoting @sudutpandang post. Second red-mark, Steemit rewarded me $0.001 curation reward for upvoting the same post of @sudutpandang. Look at the posting code at the end of each notification..., they are the same codes.

So..., what do you think?? It so easy right? You only need to vote a post that made using third party application such as dtube, dsound or dlive.

Hence, if you want to get twice reward by giving only a single vote, you may consider to give more upvote on your friends posts which are made through dtube, dlive or dsound. How about another third party applications? I am not sure since I never had it previously. Lets do the experiment together in the future to figure it out.

Conclusion

When participating to a contest, a league or any other competitions in Steemit, I encourage myself and other Steemians to adjust the purpose of our intention not only to pursue the rewards, but as well as to learn more about Steemit platform. In this way, we will gain both the knowledges and the price.
