A man named Fauzi (41) was arrested by police on Jalan Letkol H Nawawi Kayuagung, Ogan Komring Ilir, South Sumatra. He was arrested because he kept an assembled firearm (senpi), and 5 active ammunition items.
Kasubdit Jatanras Dit Reskrimum of South Sumatra Regional Police, AKBP Yoga Baskara said Fauzi was arrested during a methamphetamine party with his two colleagues. In addition there is also a knife found during arrest.
"When arrested on September 3, the suspect was on a party of methamphetamine and we immediately searched. Found an assembly piece, 5 3.8 caliber ammunition and a sharp shot," explained Yoga Baskara, Monday (09/10/2018).
The assembly was found at the suspect's waist. But for sharp weapons (knives) found police at the waist of the suspect Nandar (47) who is also a resident of Kayuagung, Ogan Komering Ilir.
Regarding whether senpi has ever been used for crime, Yoga claims that it is still under investigation. But what is clear is that the actions of suspects are against the law.
"Whether or not crime has been used or we are still investigating it again. What is clear is that it endangers the residents there. Moreover, there are still 5 active ammunition items, it could later be misused," Yoga said.
While Fauzi, who was met at the Jatanras Subdit, admitted that he bought a USD 169 firearm raftam. He saved it deliberately to protect himself while traveling at night.
"Buy from friends in OKI USD 169, it has been 3 months ago and it is only used to take care of themselves. Fear that coming home at night is nothing, so just bring this piece," he said.
Fauzi said that the assembly of firearm still assembled in OKI. Especially in the area of the Ceper River and other areas in Kayuagung and is known as one of the firearms assembly villages.
