Ulog #6: Going Out to Buy Some Groceries

in #ulog7 years ago (edited)

Every week, we have the schedule to go out and stroll a little. We have a fixed day for this every week since our company service is our only mode of transportation here in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. And now, it is time to buy some groceries again!
This time, we went to Granada Center, one of the big malls here in Riyadh. It took us 30 minutes to arrive at the place. This mall is huge compared to the last one that we’ve visited.

But first, let me take a selfie

As what you have observed, I am conforming to the strict dress code of Saudi Arabia. Pants and shorts aren’t allowed hear regardless of your nationality. We can only wear comfy clothes when we are at our dorm.

This is my friend, Mae. We arrived here in Saudi together. She’s also a Filipina and a single mom with three kids. This girl, as you can see, has a very bubbly personality. She is always the life of the party since she cracks jokes all the time.

This is what the grocery section of Granada Center looks like. As what you can see, the girls here are completely covered with fabric that the only visible part of the body is their eyes.

This is the vegetable section of their grocery area. Honestly, I never knew most of these veggies existed. This is the first time that I got to know the names of some of them.

After getting our respective groceries, I and my co-workers agreed to buy this chicken with french fries:

Their chicken is really big that made our stomach burp. This costs 14.95 SAR or around 200 pesos. Currently, we are celebrating Ramadan here in Saudi so it means that there will be no work for us since it is considered as a holiday. For now, we have to rest and do our laundry.

That's it for now! See you all in my next ulog, thank you for reading this far.

Sending my virtual hugs and kisses from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,

@jmaeunabs1
