#ULOG 06 : Brawl between gangs in Kebayoran Lama Triggered Challenges at IG

The police said the beatings that resulted in Ari Haryanto (16) died in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, was a brawl. This incident was triggered by the mutual challenge of the two gangs on Instagram.

South Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit AKBP Stefanus Tamuntuan said that the brawl was preceded by the action of challenging the two groups of students.

"These challenges will lead to the gang. This is a gang. This is a gang fight that involves school children," Stefanus told reporters at Dapur Solo, Jalan Panglima Polim, South Jakarta, Monday (3/9/2018).

Both groups planned a brawl that occurred on Saturday (1/9) then. They made a pact with each other via Instagram social media on Friday (31/8).

"One person made an appointment at IG, after that, after the appointment, they were told to go to their members via WA. Then they met, there was a brawl," he continued.

Stefanus said the victims were part of the brawl. Victims are students at Muhammadiyah Vocational School, Slipi.

"(Victim) clashed with SMA 32 Cidodol, South Jakarta. The opponent of Muhammadiyah Slipi, combined with SMAN 32, was in Madrasah Anajah, in Muhammad Husni Thamrin in South Jakarta. So the 32 high school students were joined in the gang named Gusdon ( Eating Donuts), so it's not just a child, but there is a combination of other school children, "Stephen said.

As a result of the incident, the victim suffered a stab wounds and died. The police have arrested 11 students related to the incident.
