A Mother's Day without a MOM

I was 14 when my mother died. I lived everywhere depending as to who's relatives may accept. We don't have a good relationship with my mother's side because all I can see as a young child back then, that when you all have the money, you are the star in the family. It just happened that my mother died, we are no longer beneficial for them.

I continue my story living like a Cinderella. I have my father's back when I needed financial support, but his presence is distant because he's assigned far from us.

As a 14 year old, I am serving my cousin's family. I am a student (financed by my father), a vendor after school, a laundry-cleaner, cook, name all the things Cinderella has experienced, I am doing the same thing in exchange of living under their roof as my father is working away from us.

To me, Mother's Day was never particularly special. Despite all of these, this special occasion somehow change after my mom died. It turned into a form of solitudine.

I may have a second mom; my friend's mother, my boyf's mother whoever will be, yet, nothing compares with the genuine love with my super mom could ever give.

It's been eight years since my mom died. The emptiness is still there, especially everytime I came home without a mom. Mother's Day for me always reminds me of what I don't have and which I don't have the control to bring it back all over again.

As I grow older, trying to be mature enough to say that Mother's Day is a beautiful day because I am also forever grateful to those who unconditionally gave and let me feel the love and support that my mom supposedly do when she is around.

To end this, if you still have your mom's back with you, cherish and treasure it. Don't wait until you loss your mom. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL MOMS AND SOON-TO-BE MOMS OUT THERE! HAVE A BLAST! 💞👑🎆
