THE DELICATE NATURE OF CHILD REARING
This is my first #ulog post and I thank @surpassinggoogle for this innovation. Today in the office as a pediatric nurse I began to think about the exciting world of children and how important their upbringing is to society.
Children who grow up in homes with too many DON'TS and very little DO'S will naturally rebel when they get out of the sphere of the parents/guardian's influence.
There are many adults who are socially awkward today because of the kind of family upbringing they had.
Rules...rules...rules...
Parents, allow your children to mix up with other kids, allow them to play, allow them to enjoy their childhood. Don't try to impose your ideas and idisyncrasies on them. Set rules but let there be a balance. Let them socialise.
Christian parents seem to have the notion that a child who attends church regularly is/will turn out to be a good adult. In their thinking, all the child needs is to be in church morning, afternoon, evening, all-night and voila! he or she becomes a perfect human being.
Of course, the church has a great role in positively influencing and shaping the lives of children and young people. Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.
But is that enough in today's society?
Sex education still remains a taboo topic in our homes.
Teenagers cannot invite friends of opposite sex to hangout at their homes. They will be chased out with machetes and be told they would burn in hellfire forever.
But their hormones are raging and they go underground. In the process they might end up with the wrong people.
If only parents know what is going on in choir groups and service units in churches...
If only they know what some pastors are doing with their young impressionable daughters...
If only they knew what happens at Youth camps...
If only they know what their "very committed" sons are doing with "very committed" sisters in church
If only they know....
