RE: Perceptions Are Definitely Not Perspectives

in #ulog6 years ago
Excellent discussion, @shadowspub, and you have illustrated the points nicely!

Perspective relates to where we are in life, and who we are as individuals. Perception relates to what we see, think, or feel. I know my perspective of being a Caucasian woman from the US gives me a completely different perception of life than the perspectve of a man of Asian-lineage living in China.

To someone with a perspective from the top of a mountain, they have the perception that a tree in the valley is small. But, to someone with a perspective from the valley, they have the perception that the tree is very tall.

I am also reminded of the old parable of "The Blind Men and the Elephant," in which a group of blind men are describing their perception of the elephant based on their perspective. You might enjoy that story, @dreemsteem! 🙂
