ULOG 11: Biking in Olango Island
Everytime I hear Olango Island, I automatically think of island hopping, which the island is known for. But we experienced the island differently during the weekend.
We tried biking.
At first I was hesitant since I haven't tried biking all my life, I only know how to ride one but I haven't tried biking with all the other vehicles on the road.
Still, I tried.
How to get there
- From Cebu City:
Ride a jeepney going to SM City Cebu, from there ride a V-hire heading to Gaisano Island Mall. Fare is 25. - From Lapu-lapu City:
Ride a jeepney heading to Punta Engano and tell the driver to drop you off at Movenpick Hotel. Fare is 12.
From there, head directly to Movenpick port.. Ticket is 15 pesos and the terminal fee is 5 pesos.
When you reach the Island, you will be welcomed by lots of tricycle that would bring you to your desired destination.
In our case, since we went there to bike, we only rode a tricycle once. We asked the driver to drop us off at olango my bike station. We paid 15php each for the fare.
Olango mybike station offers 2 kinds of bike, the small and the big one. Bike rental varies, you can rent the small one for 15php per hour while 10php for the big ones.
I went for the small one ofc, because im still a starter.
From there, we started our biking journey.
San Vicente Marine Sanctuary
It took us almost an hour before we reached our first destination.
So dugay?
Blame it to the first timer! Lol.
But in my defense, we had several stop overs to take pictures..
San Vicente Marine Sanctuary has a 500 meter bamboo bridge that will take you to scenic panoramic view of Lapu-lapu City and Cebu City.
Activities to enjoy in San Vicente Marine Sanctuary
- You can take instagrammable photos in there boardwalk or just simply enjoy the nature. Boardwalk fee is 25php
- If you wish to take a dip after a long biking journey, you can do swimming for 75php
- If you want to witness the wonders of Olango sea, you can go snorkeling for 175php
- You can also do overnight camping for 150 php per person
Dipped a bit after an hour of pedaling
After enjoying the seas of Olango, we decided to leave the place and move to our next destination.
We skipped the bird sanctuary because it is not yet the season for migrating birds to visit the place.
Since it is already 2pm, we decided to go to Asinan Eco Park and call it a day. We rested there for 30 mins brfore heading back to the city, it’s for free.
There were campers in the place when we arrived.
The last trip for the ferry is 6pm so after resting in Asinan, we immediately returned our bikes and paid 40 pesos for 4hrs:)
WE ONLY SPENT LESS THAN 400 PESOS FOR THIS TRIP!!
