About the theme of our First Microgame
"The contamination of water by Heavy Metals and Pesticides" is the central theme of our first Microgame "Apple Catcher", which we have developed to build community within Whaleshares, thanks to the support of the BBCas and ProjectMilkBox projects.
First of all, we want to tell you some of our motivations to choose this topic and then we will show you how we exposed this problem within the artistic design of the game.
A World Problem
Different heavy metals and pesticides flow today by the currents of all the rivers and seas of our planet, and nobody is safe. This is a true statement without one iota of exaggeration; Depending on the degree of exposure and concentration within the human body, heavy metals and pesticides represent the cause of innumerable diseases.

In each part of the planet we can find news that talks about exposure to different heavy metals and pesticides due to the ingestion of water that is contaminated, either by the lack of control of factories, mining, food industries, or simply because To build the pipes of the homes, welds were used that included heavy metals such as lead.

Other data…
* Colombia is the third country in the world that frees more Mercury, ahead of China and Indonesia; and Segovia (Antioquia / Colombia) is one of the most affected, some of its inhabitants say that mercury is the most practical way to find gold.
* In Zimapan (Mexico), water reaches arsenic concentrations 100 times greater than those recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) and 40 times higher than those established by the Mexican norm.
Unfortunately, the list can be so long as to fill an encyclopedia and the alarm is still valid for the whole world, it is important that we do not forget it and that within our possibilities we do something to help solve the problem.
No matter what age, political or religious affiliation, we can all help improve conditions within our planet. A great example of this is Gitanjali Rao, who with only 13 years has found solutions to problems as serious as detecting heavy metal concentrations in water:

Environment "Apple Catcher"
Inside "Apple Catcher" you will be wrap in a dense air and on the shore of a polluted river, tanks with different chemicals will pass freely while you try to go down a few apples on the other riverside.
The two riversides of the river have garbage around them and some tanks of chemical products stuck. Several fish and humans have died poisoned and their remains will also accompany him while he tries to capture the apples with the weapon stones, we can not guarantee that the basket where he has picked the apples is a good insulator for so much contamination. But these apples will be your only meal until you finally find your escape team, that is until our game Escape Team Game sees the light, or we devise another microgame where you can stock up.
