My 2 cents:
"How many upvotes do you get a day? Is there even a limit?" depends on your amount of followers and quality of your post. no max as far as i know.
"What are the best things to upvote? Posts? Comments? Replies?" the things you truly appreciate. That can be all of the things mentioned. I have seen replies getting more votes than posts
"Is there any point in upvoting your own blogs etc?" in my opinion yes when you just start out. Sometimes people dont even look at your posts if it doenst have a some votes. sad but true
When I post a blog and search one of my tags I don't see my post. Why not?
"My blogs have "potential payout", what's that?" payout occurs in a weeks time. potential payout is dependent on steem price and could be subject to downvotes. so until you get paid in a weeks time, its only a possibility, not a sure thing yet.
"How many resteems do I get a day? Again, is there a limit?" Dont think there is a limit as such. but the more you resteem the less your followers may appreciate. note that you dont earn anything with it. i only do it when i truly value a post or when i think someone deserves to be heard by more people.
"!s it better to resteem certain posts? Or just resteem whatever you fancy?" As per above, do what you think is right, there is no expectation of you to resteem anything.

NP. downvote is actually when people with a critical amount of steempower mark down your post. that can result in the majority of your forecasted earnings being wiped away. good luck!
@attalis, gosh that sounds a bit harsh, but i have noticed a lot of copy and pasting happening, or very similar posts. I don't see a downvote button? Geez I feel dumb lol :)
yes some of it is needed, some is very harsh indeed. Only once you reach a certain status/amount of steem power you will have the ability to downvote. Normal steemers do not have the ability.
