365 DAYS TO GO…
Rain is falling, come and stay under the Umbrella or you’ll get soaked.
Enter with your change; I don’t want any problem this early Monday morning.
These among many songs were the songs we listened to; right in 2015. As Nigerians, we joyfully danced to all these tunes. Fourteen candidates contested the election9, fourteen different songs, fourteen different promises, we took all in.
Its 365 days to the much awaited general election in our great country. A WHOLE YEAR. Plans are on; meetings are on; different strategies. I can imagine many young eligible voters being discouraged already. They are scared to vote. They have heard different stories, different ideologies, different philosophies, and different points of view. They must have heard histories; they must have heard a lot. They don’t even want to move close to the polling booths.
Ok. We trust God we would be voting under good security condition in the forthcoming election. We should not be swayed by anyone with “sweet mouth”. We know what we want. Do not sell your vote. Back in 2015, we had an acronym RSVP meaning R- Register (Pick your Permanent Voters’ Card - PVC), S- Select (Select your Candidates), V- Vote (Vote not Fight), and P- Protect (Protect your Mandate). It is our right as Nigerians. In 2015, Nigerians decided with two million, five hundred and seventy-one thousand, seven hundred and fifty nine (2, 571, 759) voters difference to choose our present leader. So much a gap, it showed a good level of public opinion.
A legal Maxim goes thus; “Vigilantibus non dormientibus aequitos subvenit” which means “Equity aids the vigilant, not those who slumber on their rights”. – The problem is not about the knowledge of the rights, we have the knowledge of our voting rights; the problem is the acknowledgement of the rights. The exercise of the voting rights. The greater problem is the people whose voting rights are controlled by other people. We have to be VIGILANT; we have to WAKE UP.
Don’t sell your votes. Expose any act of terrorism. Fight all electoral malpractices. Frown against all corrupt practices. STAY WOKE. Youth let’s arise, enough of unncessary talks, don’t be used as political thugs, let’s wake to our duty. Nigeria is one and let’s uphold our Heritage.
War does not taste like pounded yam,
Battle does not taste like fried rice;
a farmer would not know his farm,
and truth will become lies.
One who witnessed a bomb blast
or hears the deafening melody;
will faint at the sound of a banger
and die at the song of a dynamite.
Nothing profits than to unite,
Contribute individual quota to better our plight
Stop the unyielding unending fight;
It is to everyone’s delight
We have a whole year ahead, some people keep saying it’s still far, I tell you; in a twinkle of an eye, 2019 is here. Come out and let’s sign in for a better Nigeria. Nigeria is our Motherland, she deserves the best. Remember;
Nigeria yi, ti gbogbo wa n; ko ma gbodo baje…
