Project Details

Node.js is an open-source, cross-platform JavaScript run-time environment that executes JavaScript code outside of a browser. Node.js unifies web application development around a single programming language, rather than different languages for server side and client side scripts.

Contribution Specifications

  • Translation Overview

This time I continued the translation on the same file I been working since the last reports, the CHANGELOG_V5.md file. This chunk of the file is for the Version 5.6.0 of Node.js, it was a stable and had many changes from its predecessor. All of this file belongs to the Node.js 5 ChangeLog. As said in past reports a changelog is a list of the changes being made to the new version of node.js. The security seems to be the priority every time I see a typo in english, I translated to its correct form in spanish.

Each line being translated is in this form:

[<0>3c46c10d54</0>] - <1>doc</1>: fix nonsensical grammar in Buffer::write (Jimb Esser) <2>#4863</2>

To break down this example, the first part of the line is a code that helps the organization and location of the fix. The second part is the actual fix, meaning that its correcting a grammatical error in the write buffer document, a write buffer is a type of data buffer used in one of the most common architectures like Intel's x86 or the AMD64. You can actually look up the GitHub post to see the error, I usually do this for the context of the translation.

I've learned what is a buffer and a write buffer from this sites.

Languages

This contribution was translated to Spanish using English as the source language. My experience as an engineer and a translator in past crowdin projects have helped me vastly in this translation.

Word Count

A total of 1279 words were translated from the CHANGELOG_V5.md file.

Some translated examples in this file:

EnglishSpanish
[<0>f462320f74</0>] - <1>doc</1>: undo move http.IncomingMessage.statusMessage (Jeff Harris) <2>#4822</2>[<0>f462320f74</0>] - <1>doc</1>: deshacer el movimiento http.IncomingMessage.statusMessage (Jeff Harris) <2>#4822</2>
[<0>3c46c10d54</0>] - <1>doc</1>: fix nonsensical grammar in Buffer::write (Jimb Esser) <2>#4863</2>[<0>3c46c10d54</0>] - <1>doc</1>: corregir gramática sin sentido en Buffer::write (Jimb Esser) <2>#4863</2>
[<0>a96ae2cb37</0>] - <1>doc</1>: console is asynchronous unless it's a file (Ben Noordhuis) <2>#5133</2>[<0>a96ae2cb37</0>] - <1>doc</1>: la consola es asincrónica a menos que sea un archivo (Ben Noordhuis) <2>#5133</2>
Once again, no new terms were learned, this changelog files have many technical terms that are left without a translation, like the word linter, or the word flaky, that I explained before.

Proof of Authorship

You may check this project's activity following this link and clicking on the top members tab. There, if you filter the search options to show only the translations on October 18th (when I did the translation), it will show a report of 1279 words translated next to my crowdin account (which shares the same name as my steem account).

Thank you for your contribution!

  • Regarding your presentation post, please remember to be careful with the formatting and writing (including the markdown), this is extremely important because it is a report that shows your work and skills as a translator. Each contribution is different that's why you may also add different details that describe the purpose of the text you translated.

  • You did a good job while translating but please try to avoid typos and misstatements, they significantly decrease the quality of the translation.

  • Thanks for sharing examples of the translations you did in this collaboration.
