Single Meme = $158? Seems Legit + SFR Project Update and New Meme Flag Campaign Open!
/s
^For the unaware, that means sarcasm.
Look at this gem! 💎
Why do people think this is still ok?
I can understand $10 or so for an original meme.
But $158???
That's A LOT of paid votes.
You jonesin' for upvotes there, bud?
I want to play a game @nolimit909.
Let's start with something easy. Which one is not like this others?
Ok, next exercise. This one may be a little more difficult for you.

Ok, Pencils down. Let's check our answer.
The question at this point is what should we do with this post?
- Flag it and claim @steemflagrewards votes for bid bot abuse
- Notify bot owners for blacklist and unvote.
- Flagrewards Campaign.
- All of the above?
Thank you @therealwolf for blacklisting this user with the quickness!
Steem Community Let your voices and flags be heard.
If this gets enough support, we may be able to get the bot owners to unvote without refund the abuser in question. We have accomplished this in the past and am confident we can do it again. The power of the community is great. Recommend leaving a comment below so the bot owners can evaluate.
If you really want to help, help us by requesting that the bot owners unvote via Discord, Steem.chat, and other platforms.
Paid out the last flag rewards campaign and those payments to flaggers were pretty good. Negative curation can be risky business so I like to be able to compensate users that help take on this task. To be honest, we need much more negative curation on this platform.
Spreading the good word on Minds about what we do on Steem. I didn't even boost that one yet. Nice!
SFR Project Updates:
- Added additional abuse categories to address unique forms of abuse.
- Art Paraphrasing
You created a derivative artistic work but failed to cite the source(s) of inspiration. This is often a method employed to deceive curators in order to receive greater rewards.
@logic weighing in on the issue. Respect!
Kudos to @jaguar.force for unraveling it. Notice, how the user would edit their comments after the fact. See Comment.
This is a a sign of possible deception. Abusers taking advantage of @ntopaz curation will often feign ignorance. They will then continue to not source the inspiration of their work. This is a method of embellishing their own talent. I see this as an affront to any honest artist in the NTopaz community. Glad they have taken measure to address via their guidelines.
We have discussed this matter with their admin along with @jaguar.force. This resulted in a prompt unvote of that user. We don't know if the author's intent was to deceive. Thus, enforcement of the established guidelines should be agnostic to perceived intent.
When the failure to cite affects their rewards, think it is reasonable to expect change. Glad we were able to work with them to improve their process.
See my comment about an earlier instance of art paraphrasing.
Moving on to the next category
- Contest Spam
You created a contest requiring votes, resteems or follows for entry. SFR considers these tactics manipulative. Posts that require upvotes to enter or play in a contest or game falls under spam or abuse in the Steemit.com FAQ.
The contest spam issue has been pervasive enough that it could have an entire post dedicated to it. We observed another user employing the same tricks and obtaining a very high @steem-ua score.
I have notified @holger80 and @scipio of the latest instance of a user gaming their system. Hope they will be able to review and take appropriate action. Essentially, buying followers for increased UA support should be a no-go and grounds for blacklist (or adjusted score) in my humble opinion.
I am not a fan of this scammy methodology. If you run a contest, it should never require resteems, upvotes or follows to enter. It's nothing new. Users are always trying to employ cheap tricks to get ahead.
Earn your following like the rest of us!
Thus, we will be accepting flags for this category henceforth. I have given @richatvn's an admonishment so hold flags.
Flag campaign is NOW OPEN for this post.
Progress will be tracked via @smartmeme and flaggers meme ranks will be updated.
Example Above of Gamified Flag Ranks
If you want to work to earn the prestigous content cop rank, send those flags!
Would you like to delegate to the Steem Flag Rewards project and promote decentralized moderation?
It's much more fashionable than self-voting.
Here are some handy delegation links!
New Supporter Incentives Coming!
I will be providing increased flag incentives to those that:
- Follow me
- Follow @steemflagrewards
- Follow @smartmeme
- Follow @sfr-mod-fund
This will improve our @busy.org support and flag capabilities. It is NOT a requirement but will be a perk for those willing to support. Furthermore, I will be working flagger / delegator incentives into the @steemflagrewards upvote algorithm. Stay Tuned.
Note: The primary incentive is reducing the profitability of abuse platform wide. This benefits all users of the Steem blockchain so please consider support.
Hello there @anthonyadavisii!
What an amalgamate of post! You are combining a flag campaign with updates on @steemflagrewards.
Most people do not know about Steemit, Inc.'s definition of spam when it comes to contests, etc. It is different. I cannot say if that stance is right or wrong, but it does come from the biggest stake holder.
As for
art paraphrasing
, I am surprised at how soon this adoption came along. I have always believed that anti-abuse efforts should be dynamic. We are aware of people who operate right outside of @steemcleaners' scope to dodge flags. Well, they cannot escape. There are those in Steem Cleaners who flag through Steem Flag Rewards.Anyhow, back on the topic at hand. This is another call to the community to join in
negative curation
. I suppose the proceeds from this post, if voted, will be used to compensate the flaggers like last time.Good luck! Expect me to tag along as well!

Great post @anthonyadavisii. It is beyond crazy what some people think should deserve high rewards. I think we have quite an anti-downvoting culture. I think the setup on Steemit creates the impression that flagging is a malicious act. Partiko has upvotes and downvotes setup as like and dislike buttons. If Steemit switched to that system, maybe people would not be so offended by downvotes.
You mention about contests and not requiring upvotes. I ran contests for almost year and we really need the upvotes to help fund the prizes. Many of my contests barely broke even. I think Steem is perfect for contests but it is very difficult to fund prizes. I even offered beneficiary rewards for a sponsor but did not attract any interest.

Hi @spectrumecons! Always good to hear your thoughts.
The funny thing is we are way better off than say a platform like WhaleShares and their what I would call the flagaphobic culture. i want to create a Bart Simpson writing on chalkboard "Flags are not violence" meme just for them.
They have set themselves up for failure with a "Promote the Good. Ignore the bad" mentality. In my estimation, there are not too many problems that are solved by ignoring them but guess they will need to learn.
In an analogous sense, it's like not paying mind to the people robbing the 🏦 and focusing on "doing good". You leave the abusers alone for long enough undeterred and they will just grow in relative influence compared to their more altruistic counterparts.
My overall assessment of their abuse fighting posture is one indicative of a naivete of human nature and possibly coupled with incompetence. Think their existence is to give potential investors the warm and fuzzies while the bad guys siphon as much as possible from their reward pool as possible.
There is one account @iamtraveler on there that is continuously copy pasting YT links and self voting them many times a day. What did they do? A shout out from their "WhaleGuardians" that did not deter them. I sure sent a few costly flags.
They cost 3x as much as upvotes which is a huge problem. I don't know how that story is going to end but I have sounded the 🎺 so to speak. I am glad to offer our services to other chains provided they are willing but they were not. At least not at this time.
I should write a post about my experience as a warning to Steemians that are considering "jumping ship". We have moderation that is functional albeit underpowered. Yes, flags are abused sometimes by certain characters but, in the grand scheme, they are one of the best tools we have against reward leeches adding nothing to our ecosystem.
The culture here has been coming which may be, in part, due to price action. Folks don't like seeing their investments dwindle and we are in what I would like to call the golden age of abuse fighting which @utopian-io spearheaded through their AntiAbuse project.
Just today, I have added another innovation to our bot to allow moderators to batch approve follow flags on a parent comment greatly reducing the administrative burden to free up attention to the constantly evolving abuse on our chain.
This is pretty much a hobby for me. Comes with a fair share of drama but I sure as hell can't say it's not interesting. Lol

His name "nolimit" lol. He literally knows no limit.

Hey! I already made that joke in his comments!
Flagged for plagiarism. jk jk 😁

Sorry, didn't see it. Have an upvote then!

he he i saw that meme also. I was shocked. Also i catch and make a downvote on one comments spamer. This is a good job. I absolutly agree with this.
Even i have a lil bit different view about the promo and bid bots but yes this kind when they overboost is not acceptable.
Posted using Partiko Android
Glad we can agree on that. What comment spammer were you referring?
I ask because we are going to start keeping tabs on them via a blockchain listener. We just need to scrub our flagged list for users that should be added to the watchlist.

I really dont know if he is a doing it always but he made the same comment under almost all the trending few days ago and i was not the only one who warned him.
