Difficulty
This tutorial is at an Beginner level.
Description
Learn how to operate the three Rows in SEQ-3.
SEQ-3 gives us a unique output for each of the three Rows. By connected to these we can send out our unique VC signals for each row. Along with the unique CV signal SEQ-3 outputs a common Gate signal.
Learn how to use SEQ-3 for Frequency Modulation.
Each of the dials in each of the Rows can be used to manipulate and oscillator. Each dial can be set to a specific position which in turn will alter the pitch of a connected oscillator. Choosing specific pitches in a row will allow you to create a melody. This can be achieved by connecting the ROW output to the V/OCT input of an oscillator. The raw signal from these dials will change the pitch but not adhere to a tonal center. You can use a module like JW Mondules' Quantizer to organize the control voltage signal into a tonal center for making music.
Learn how to connect multiple systems to SEQ-3.
SEQ-3 allows us to output separate sounds from each of the three rows. That can be used to create interesting polyphony. I show how this is done in the video tutorial.
Learn use Control Voltage to manipulate SEQ-3.
Using a module such as an LFO we can control various functions of SEQ-3. Clock Reset and Steps can all be controlled using Control Voltage. In the video tutorial I provide instruction on how this can be done.
VCV Rack is an open source application, which means that it is free for everyone to use. Please consider going to the developers' website and show your support for the project - http://www.vcvrack.com
I hope you enjoy this tutorial. If you have any specific questions for me feel free to leave it in the comments of this post and I will do my best to get back to you with an answer.
