Project Details

This is my second (and final) contribution to this localization project. As I have mentioned in my previous contribution, GDevelop is a software where any kind of 2D game - puzzles, platformers, shoot 'em up, or strategy - can be created. It was created by Florian Rival, who designed the game creator platform in such a way that even those with no programming skills will be able to create a game. The website (and the app) have been kept simple so as to encourage anyone, who has a game in mind, to participate and create the next big hit in the gaming scene. The tutorials are easy to understand, with its visual aids and expounded instructions.

Translating the website is not as simple though. It uses a lot of terms that are quite challenging to translate. There are a number of instances when the same word had to be translated differently in different strings. Here's an example:

The word powerful is translated differently in each of the strings above. In Image 1, I used the term malakas to signify the strength of the editor. While in Image 2, I used the term makapangyarihan to signify the efficiency of Events.

Below is another example of how the same words are expressed differently in the Filipino language. In Image 3, the word advanced was translated to nakatataas to signify higher levels. In Image 4, I used sopistikado(ng), to imply that the features are complex and the user can use it to build ambitious games.

Some strings had technical terms that are left untranslated. There are only a few and some are listed as examples below.

  • Event
  • Object
  • Editor
  • Tutorial
  • Platformer

Filipino Translation Project : https://crowdin.com/translate/gdevelop-website/2/en-fil
Source Language : English
Translated Language : Filipino
Number of Words: 1684

This project has 2887 words. Since it's not that big, only one Filipino translator needed to work on it and it was assigned to me. When I got the project, translations to some of its strings have already been submitted a few months ago.

I still checked the strings and submitted my own suggestions for translations that I think could still be improved.

Crowdin Translation Report

I no longer submitted suggestions for the existing translations that were already accurate, and out of 2877 words, I got to translate 2799 of it to Filipino.

The localization of the GDevelop website is now 100% complete.
