Scam Warning To Steemit Users

Good day,

Today marks the beginning of my taking action against scammers who seeks to swindle Steemit users out of their hard earned Steem by exposing them and their methods and thereby keeping Steemit users abreast of these scams so as to avoid them.

This is the first of a new series in which i will expose scams and scammers who target steemit users.

Today i came across something fantastic. I received a mail which i thought was from steemit telling me a post of mine has been upvoted. I was a little surprised at first because i wondered if Steemit had now upgraded the site to inform us by email when actions were carried out on our posts. I clicked on the link and i was redirected to the site below.

As you can see from the above image, scammers/hackers have made a clone website of steemit.
The front page shows 'trending posts' from some notable steemit whales such as: @adsactly, @aggroed, @transisto, @haejin, intending to convince the users that they are on the correct website.

I almost fell for this if not for the caution i take in checking the link of any website i access. The likely intention of this scammer is to obtain the value steemit account information of users, login to the stolen account, request for a new password and then steal every valuable steem left in the account.

I was amazed and also curious so i clicked on the login button and i was amazed how these scammers were able to clone the site so well.

I entered my username and a made up master key to avoid giving these good for nothing scammers access to my account and then clicked on 'Login'.

The page showed that my password was incorrect, but the truth behind this clone website is that these hackers just need your account information and once they get it, your steemit account and all in it becomes theirs.
