Abuse Fighting on Steem Today #2

in #utopian-io6 years ago (edited)

This looks like it might be a weekly thing, as long as I can get ideas to come out of my head and hold onto them long enough to commit them to text.

Fighting attacks on the steem blockchain is the duty of all stakeholders.
If we don't protect our investments they won't be there when we need them.

Historical Reference

There are only a couple things to know about fighting abuse on steem.

It's better to reform the newbs than ban them.

Fighting abuse takes 100% dedication, if you aren't ready to get flagged in return then don't bite off more than you can chew.
It's like Rule #1.
How much do you love being a Steemizen?
100%!

Historical Reference

If you want to participate, but not flag, you can delegate Steem Power to several places.

https://steemconnect.com/sign/delegateVestingShares?delegator=younamehere&delegatee=steemflagrewards&vesting_shares=100000.000000%20VESTS

100,000 vests is almost 50 sp.

@admiralbot has a list of abuse in his comments.
If you want to flag something, but rarely see spam, look there.
IF you want his flag to be stronger, delegate.

Same for @steemflagrewards, there is plenty of abuse to go around.

These little accounts making .50stu are too small for the whales to bother.
The ones getting diluted most by this abuse are the redfish and minnows.
That is likely you, dear reader, dust off your follow button and join in the fun with flags!

One flag a day, or a dozen a week, is not much to ask to do our part in keeping the price high, imo.

Edit for clarity.

Copy the delegation link into the url window and go.
Edit the url to replace 'yournamehere' with your username, no @, and go again.
You should see the correct information.
Adjust the number of vests to desired level when editing username, always use 6 decimal places.
Enter active key when prompted.
Viola!
You are now a responsible adult!
Don't let it go to your head, eh?

Greetings @freebornangel, we've meet again!

Thank you for making this public service announcement a series!

Despite the length of the message, it reminds everyone that they are stakeholders. Therefore, they are responsible for the advancement or downfall of the platform.

I do want to point out that the delegation link you have provided is not functional and would have to be edited.

I hope the community will appreciate your time and effort dedicated to anti-abuse.

I also checked the answers in that link.
The first and last answers are clearly erroneous.
Can you look those over?

I am new at this. I apologize if I made any mistake.

Your first point is valid. I have edited my scoring.

The graphics/images are more subjective as I explore what it means to be relevant. I appreciate the messages in the photos, but was unsure how to put the historical context in terms of anti-abuse.

Rest assured, after this trail period, we will have a better grasp on how to approach. Thanks again!

Thank you, very much, E48.

The way I read that graphic question was that I had three, two original memes on public photos, and one open source sfr graphic.

I'm sure it will take some time to shake out norms, we are breaking new ground.

I hope you can forgive me, I often appear to have only one drum that I can't quit hitting, but it is in pursuit of a world not ruled by force.
The historical context takes abuse fighting to the next level, real life.

Not alot i can do about the length, concise is the aim when addressing a crowd.

I did edit some clarity in about customizing the link.

Thanks for reading!

My vote was missed?

Thank you for your review, @enforcer48!

So far this week you've reviewed 1 contributions. Keep up the good work!

I really feel this. I haven't been a part of a flag war or any such thing (yet) but even though I'd love to have my hand at abuse fighting personally I think I could chew virtually nothing. I imagine many people are like me, with a tiny pittance of SP, and the possibility of getting flagged scares us off.

Yeah, until you got 60 rep and 500sp we dont really expect you to flag, but join the discord and do it anyway, its good practice.

Well said. I've seen a few minnows change their ways after some attention from @steemflagrewards and the team. The problem is that they will copy what they see others doing and some big accounts set a bad example. We're not just out to built minnows. We really want to make this a better place.

I think bringing facebook culture here is not gonna help, better we cherry pick their users and herd them onto sustainable paths.

Mass adoption is a double edged sword.
We gotta minimize abusers before they grow too large to fail.

Thanks for being in the antiabuse struggle.

Couldnt agree more with this! So many people come here and get awful advice and then dont learn to make changes. I feel its the duty of more established Steemians to help them out rather than ignore it!
