Working on eSteem Mobile as a German DaVinci/Utopian Language Moderator

source

First and foremost I want to thank @good-karma for giving us the opportunity to help him with his project. It was a huge pleasure for me to serve with my gained knowledge as a Language Moderator from DaVinci.

Repository

eSteem Mobile is an open-source dApp which is performing on the Steem Blockchain. You will find the relevant repositories here:

Project Details

There are currently only two good working mobile dApps on the market, which allow contributions to the Steem Blockchain. One extraordinary solution is eSteem Mobile by @good-karma. I downloaded it myself, not only for proofreading reasons but also because I was curious. With v2 the app got an extremely nice and sleek design, which was also reflected in the reaction of the community.

To keep the keys safe, eSteem Mobile offers SteemConnect login and a screen lock in case the phone is stolen. Personally, I also like the fact that you can use multiple accounts and switch between them easily. Another very important feature for me is the Notification Center because it keeps me up to date and informs me when someone has commented on my posts. As the app is constantly being developed, it is now possible to create drafts, view leaderboards, share posts, specify favorite authors within the app and many more in the near future.

Contribution Specifications

My main job as a Language Moderator is to proofread and approve German translations
from my hard-working translation team. @louis88 was responsible for translation concerned. As an open-source developer, he demonstrated the necessary skills to translate the app into a simple and easy-to-understand German in the right context. He downloaded the app to his smartphone to understand in detail the context of the translation, which I highly appreciate. He has thus made a significant contribution to the community by ensuring that even people who are not proficient in English can enjoy eSteem Mobile.

At the time of proofreading, there were only about 382 words in the whole project, so it took me about 15-20 minutes to proofread everything and evaluate the respective contribution. One thing I like to mention here is that we tried to be as much consistent as possible across all translations. Therefore kept, for example, the term Blockchain in English, as we are strongly convinced that no one is familiar with the translated German term 'Blockkette'. In general, we tried to keep the blockchain-specific terms and not tried to 'germanize' them in order to avoid more confusion. Overall I really liked the personal touch @louis88 brought to the dApp with his translation.

Conclusion

It was a pleasure reviewing the work of @louis88 for the eSteem Mobile dApp, as I think this is a small, but important step out of many towards a successful Steem Blockchain. I really like the way how the community found a lot of bugs and made suggestions with the help of Utopian by @elear to constantly improve the experience within eSteem Mobile dApp. This reflects very well the real power of the community.
