RE: Weird Stuff On Github #1 - Trumpscript, Let's Make Coding Great Again!

in #utopian-io6 years ago

Thank you for the contribution. I spent the reading session laughing, it was fun to read.

There are several points affecting the determined quality of the contribution significantly. I am going to specify them to inform you about quality measures of Utopian. Improvements on those could help both open source community with contribution value, and you with rewards.

  • Since the projects are created for fun instead of functionality, both the project and the post do not have much additional value for open source community. This is not about the post but it is good to recall since this is the reason why Utopian is here, to empower open source projects.
  • Also, the projects are not actively maintained, so contributing on this kind of projects are not as effective as contributing to others.
  • Considering that most of the content body is a collection of lines from the original source, it is not wrong to say that the post lacks author insight. More detailed and informative original content could improve and deepen your contribution to open source world.
  • A few formatting choices could make it more readable such as using shorter quotes to keep the balance, or using codeblocks for codelines.

To conclude, the post is a relatively low-quality Utopian contribution in Blogs category mostly because of the aim of the projects. Although the project and the post hits their target, their contribution to the community is little to none. I suggest a little different approach in your future posts. I think that it would be better if you pick projects you could provide your own insights.

I hope I managed to help you with my feedback. Have a good day and please keep contributing to open source community.

Neat, I am glad you laughed since that was my goal right from the start!

And thanks for the great feedback, it was pretty much what expected. When I hit the publish button I thought to myself " this is a good post but for all the wrong reasons" so I am surprised it even got accepted, hehe.

Also thanks for the time you took to review this, I'd guess it took you a bit more
than the usual since it's different to what you are usually dealing with. I promise, I'll try to improve next time :D

Thank you for your review, @roj!

So far this week you've reviewed 1 contributions. Keep up the good work!
