Add an option to show curator rating of a user in steemit user interface

Today I have a suggestion for steem user interface. And this suggestion is related to curation.

Basically in steemit account, we heard about authors and curators very often and our payout is also divided into two parts. One is Author Reward and other is Curator Reward. Author means who generate contest/write blog or article. Curator means who upvote a post. So the entire community is basically centered about author reward and curation reward.

Popular authors are known for their good content and also receives high reward and they gain the attention of curator to curate their post. Curators similarly look for good content and if they find good content they upvote it and by their upvote not only author receives 75% of their upvote value but also the curator receives upto 25% of its upvote value.

But we have not yet distinguished till date who is a good curator or as a curator how popular he/she is. Here I am focusing the curator as an individual and not community based curator. Because Community based curation is specific to a certain type of topic or post. Curator play a pivotal role in keeping a healthy ecosystem in this community. And till now we dont have any mechanism to identify specifically a good curator.

utt1.jpg

There are people in this community who curates most of the time taking interest in the blog of others and curate it and there are also people who dont take any interest in others blog. they are only upto their blog and comment section. We have the reputation score of our steem account. But if we add another rating like "CURATOR RATING" in steem user interface,, then we will be able to distinguish a specific user who curates very often and based on the rating we would be able to judge how good he/she is, in curation.

So this is my suggestion for today to add an option to show "CURATOR RATING" which should be a 5 point scale and the user should be given rating like 1/5, 2/5, 3/5, 4/5, 5/5 rating. And while formulating the algorithm of curation, the following points should be taken into consideration.

(1) It must consider the average number of posts per day a curator curate.

(2) The type of post he/she curate should not be repetitive type, so it must be checked how diversified the curator is, in terms of different categories of topic, different type of authors etc. The idea is that, a curator should not be given a high rating if he/she is voting a particular user on daily basis and a particular topic on daily basis.

(3) The curator rating should also be gauged for its steem power, because steem power is something which makes sense of a curator's worth.

(4) The curator's rating should also be checked against its activity on day to day basis in this community. The active curator should be given high weightage.

(5) The curator rating should also be a reflection of a post's earning where he/she curates. That means if a post's earning is high where a curator curates, then high weightage should be given to its rating and vice versa.

(6) The age of a curator (age refers to time since he/she joined) should also be taken into account while considering the rating as a curator.

utt2.jpg

Once we factor all these points in rating of a curator, we can see the curator rating in steem user interface and once we have this rating in place, then when ever we come across any user in steem blockchain we can assess the portfolio of a user or in other words we can roughly asses a user as "what he/she is upto". This will enable us to understand someone in this community in a better sense.

Further we must also understand that passively or actively we all are looking for curators and this is something which is universal to almost everyone in this community, be it a minnow or a dolphin or a whale. So if we place a curator rating in steem user interface then we will be able to know categorically how good a user in curation is. Everybody wants upvotes, and very few reciprocates the job of a curator, so with this, let's have a feature called CURATOR RATING so as to know or highlight those curators and let's give them specific and respectable place in this community.

That's all for today. I hope this is an essential one and would find a place in implementation. Thank you so much.

Completely agree .Good suggesion @shivohum2015

Thank you.

@shivohum your suggestion is pretty good but curator rating is a big downside for the new people who gonna join this community .please correct me if i am wrong

No not at all, I totally disagree, because why for newcomers it is is setback??? newcomer have got nothing to do with it. But curator who are not distinguished can be surfaced out as a whole with this option in place and with this u can know who a good curator is.

Ok curator rating to some extent is fine but it doesn't necessary to be shown on your profile or publicly available

Unless it is publicly available how would u ascertain the user in terms of "how good he/she is in curation" and that is why this suggestion is being put forward for implementation.
