1UP Pre-Alpha Release

The Hurdles Of Open Source Without Funding
The creation of the 1UP project was always a non-profit community idea, that has zero financial background behind. It was incredibly difficult to bring it all together and at some point we even needed the investment of a private investor, to get a portion of the required development costs together. Except for the main developer @stoodkev, no one involved has earned a single Steem with it. In fact, it was rather a costly endeavor for all the Fundition supporters.
1UP was build with the promise of SMT tokens, which would have opened a new form of voting pool, reserved only for the 1UP community. This is sadly not the case anymore, as Steemit has canceled all SMT developmet, probably forever. Creating merely a token for having a token was never the idea and would make zero sense for an app that has no economy, making Steem-Engine not a great alternative.
However, since 1UP was always meant as a 100% community driven project, the future of the UP Token is in the hand of YOU. The software if publicly available and everyone can start building on top of that. No one has ever created such a system for Steem, maybe someone finds it useful.
Testing 1UP
Even though we don't have the UP Token, the 1UP software is working with Steem alone as well. We will have no upvote power and don't ask for delegations either, as the future of 1UP is very uncertain. But the basic functionalities are running.
Step 1: Go to https://utopian-1up.herokuapp.com/
Step 2: Create any new community and set admin and moderator. You cannot set more than one moderator at this point.
Step 3: You must provide a trail account and connect it with your community via Steemconnect. It will always be put to the end of the voting process.
Step 4: Follow the community-trail of your choice. Simply enter the community and click on the "Follow Trail" button. If you don't see this button, then the trail account has not yet been set for this community. Please contact the community admin. When you follow a community, you can define with how much percentage you want to front-run the trail. You can always change that later or unfollow a trail.
Step 5: Vote for your favorite posts within each community. This will work best the more people do that. All you need to do is click on the UP botton next to each post. You have only 10 votes each day for ALL communities together. Use them wisely.
Step 6: Wait for the timer. Every 2.4 hours the community timer will hit 0 and start the next upvoting process for the highest post. The upvoters will be ordered with our smart system, putting the lowest votes first and then gradually the higher votes. The community trail will always come last. Theoretically, 1UP will also upvote last, in the featured communities. But this feature is deactivated for now, as we have no Steem Power and don't ask for any either.

Thank you for the detailed update. This is a useful tool and a bright idea, and it's good to have the project up and running. I appreciate your dedication and commitment to the project.
I am saddened to hear the news that you decided to resign, but I can see where you're coming from, and I certainly agree that it is quite difficult to achieve much without funding, and especially during the bear market. I just hope the new project manager will share your passion for the project, and wish you every success in your future endeavors.
The post is comprehensive, detailed and well-illustrated with relevant graphics. You managed to present all the information in a simplified manner, and even though there are minor writing imperfections, this is a nice blog post.

Really sad news on many levels, both for the 1UP, as well as the SMT project. I was really looking forward to this app. Flauwy's a super creative fella and will definitely come up with something new in the future.

Nice to have the project up and running again. From what I read, it looks totally different from what 1UP used to be. I'll go over the article again for better understanding. Once again, it's good to have the project working again.
