RE: No Good Deed Goes Unpunished
You can also scramble eggs in a small sauce pan. Doesn't have to be an unwieldy fry pan, ever-ready to tip over. Takes more stirring and lower heat is all. Cubed ham and cheese tossed in. I'd fry up the ham first. I'll bet you could even make a pot of Basmati rice if you have a lid. Basmati is easy to dress up with all sorts of things. Check some recipes. Coriander seeds toasted in hot oil first and green peas later on. Savor.
You hit on a real issue when noting the instability of the pans on the stove. I modified the little feet on my single burner Coleman last night by adding the fuzzy side of velcro to them . Then I put the other side of the velcro on top of my ice chest. This at least keeps the stove from slipping around on top of the cooler. It does nothing about the propensity of pots and pans to slip off the stove itself. I can see that is going to be something I'll need to keep an eye on. I might swap out my long handled saucepan for one of those with the little handles on both sides. Thanks for the input. I do have a lid for my saucepan but not for the cast iron skillet. I'd use the top of the saucepan lid if it was big enough but I'll do without for now. Enjoy.
I hope it works out. If I think of other options I'll post em. Stay warm. Savor.
