Government policies are against animal rights : I strongly protest against this.

in #vegan6 years ago (edited)

In a democracy, government works and make policies according to the mindset and thinking of masses. Unfortunately, the majority of the public doesn't have the mindset that animals are our fellow earthlings. They have a false impression that animals are for our use and, exploitation of animals in the name of getting animal products and employment generation has silent approval from the society.
In the civil society milking an animal is not considered as an exploitation and it comes under employment generation and even considered as beneficial to save animal species. This misconception is responsible for the animal exploitation. As this is the also the demand of the public so the government is making such policies which lead to animal torture and exploitation.

Recently the government of my home state Rajasthan has decided to venture into the production of goat milk and its products. Under this project, goat milk, goat milk powder, cheese, flavoured milk and soap will be produced by rural women and will be sold to multinationals. Read complete news here or in the above photograph.

This move of government seems very popular and in the favour of the public, so it would be welcome by all except animal rights activists, even so-called animal lovers also do not see anything wrong in it.
Being a vegan and animal right activist I strongly protest against this. Milking of an animal always leads to forceful and artificial insemination, mercilessly separation of new-born calf/lamb from his/her mother, starvation or feeding artificial food to the baby, stealing mother's milk to complete the market demand, slaughtering male to fulfil the meat demand.
This project of the government endorses the proverb "killing two birds with one stone". So-called animal lovers and the most hypocrite people of the society vegetarian people and meat eater both would be happy with this. Vegetarian will get a chance to gulp the milk of one more animal wheres meat eater will be benefited with abundance and easily available low-cost meat. The government will propagate it by saying that people will get employment opportunities and the goat's healthier milk and its products will be available. Nobody is concerned with the life-long suffering of innocent animals.

Until and unless the majority of human beings will not be educated that "Animals are our fellow earthlings and they are here to live with us, not for us" we will continue to be partners of such kind of evil and sin.

This is a very serious issue which often people neglect by their eyes. We need to raise our voice for animal rights through any platform which is available.

Very important things you bring up here. Majority of people have been conditioned to not view animals as equals or even as having a life that they value and want to keep living. The conditioning starts as soon as we're born so it's no surprise that it's so deeply ingrained in our culture.

It is very unfortunate that governments only further the exploitation of fellow sentient beings. The reality is though, we can't look to governments/corporation/industry to make the change we want to see. We have to take it into our own hands and lead the charge ourselves. Change happens on an individual level and the less and less people there are that buy animal products, the less profitability there will be and we will see a decline in their availability. Veganism is exponentially growing as is evidence by the wide availability of vegan items in stores these days as opposed to years past. The world will one day be vegan. It may not happen today or even in our lifetime, but it's up to us to continue to spread the truth so that one day there is a generation of animals that are no longer enslaved. It may not happen as fast as we want it to, but it will happen. People will wake up one day. Nice post and keep up the great work spreading the message!

very good article, i am also against this policy.

It's simply hypocritical how we can see something as killing a dog inhumane while pigs and cows are simply okay to kill. There is no right way to kill anyone who does not want to die.
