A Vegan diet are more expensive than the "basic" one ? True or False !

If you do the math, there is no reason why eating vegetarian or vegan should cost more than consuming meat.

At 10, 20 or 30 euros per kilo, meat is one of the most expensive products you can buy at food stores. So if you can replace it, for example, with bean that cost maybe two euros per kilo, you will make good savings !

And yet, I spend one and a half times, or even twice more for food. Why? Because becoming vegan has led me into the world of ultra healthy food. I buy more often in a farmer's markets, cooperatives, and Whole Foods (supermarket chain with a large majority of organic and local products) than before, and I still pay more for "Bio" brand. Becoming vegan has led me to know more about food, to the point that I end up being afraid of not being selective enough and mindful of the things I buy.

I'm sure you've heard the words "Pay for it now, or you'll pay for it later." The money we spend to have the healthiest diet possible is an investment for our future health that will ultimately bear fruit. And so, no, a vegan diet are not more expensive than a basic diet, BUT generally, vegan people go further in their approaches, and this is the reason why we spend more.
