FREE RIDE to take you Home. 😁
Hello Steemians! Have you tried to ride while standing and jump along with other passengers as the truck crossed in a bumpy and uphill road? It is truly fun and breathtaking experience.
In the province of Eastern Samar, you will find the island of Homonhon. It is one of the tourist spot in the Philippines. It's red soil and white sand beaches highlights the island tour. Setting aside those attractions and indulge the way of living of the people, you will see how simple yet satisfying life they have.
What struck me the most was this dusty truck - the only means of transportation to reach the other side of the island. People need to wake up at dawn to prepare and be ready at exactly 5 in the morning. Before the sun will rise,the truck will find its way to each barangay. Then they will wait for hours to take them home. It is quite a sacrifice but a blessing for the community.

Truly a sacrifice for all: for the driver who picks up the passengers and wait for them for hours and for the passengers as who do this everyday for work and to go to school. I have experienced this a few times when I was a kid and at my grandparents' place when there are occassions like weddings and funerals and we needed to come down the mountains to the town proper.

And yes we used to ride in the back of pickup trucks on the farm to get from one place to the other. It is a very breathtaking experience. You have a sense of freedom but danger to.
