How to Mine Verge (XVG) Coin | CPU Mining

in #verge7 years ago

As I've been scouring the internet and YouTube I come to find that there are not very many, virtual no, guides on how to mine Verge (XVG). Since I would like this to be a guide for beginners who may just be getting into things, I'm limiting this post to cover CPU mining, however you'll find the process very similar for a GPU. Additionally, this is limited to Windows operating systems.

So let's get this started.

1.) Goto: https://vergecurrency.com/mining/ and scroll to the bottom where you will find a link to Crypto Mining Blog (http://cryptomining-blog.com/8134-windows-binaries-for-the-cpuminer-opt-3-3-8-cpu-miner/) detailing the miner you need for CPU mining. However, I'm going to make this easier on you and went and found the GitHub page (https://github.com/JayDDee/cpuminer-opt) for you.

2.) Create a "New Folder" and put the .zip file in it and unzip the contents.

3.) Open the extracted file (you'll need to click the same folder twice).

4.) Find the file named "ESP-START.bat"

5.) Delete anything in this file and replace it with the following:

"cpuminer -a (your prefered algorithm) -o stratum+tcp://(your prefered mining pool information and port) -u (your XVG wallet) -p c=XVG(This will likely be XVG, but some pools vary depending on the algorithm you are using such is the case with zpool)

6.) Save .bat file

7.) Right-click the .bat file you just edited and "Run as Administrator" and select "yes" if prompted.

8.) If everything went well, then you can just walk away and enjoy the rest of your day.
