Introducing DPlay: a decentralized short video platform using STEEM and IPFS
Definition of DPlay
For a while we were watching 3rd party video platform integrated with Steem blockchain and their interaction with the users. Users spent a lot of time producing a content. And every content hasn’t same quality, and everyone couldn’t produce professional content. Because in video content, quality shouldn’t be measured by time spent on technical work. Creativity and consumption rate must be the main parameters that determine quality. We hope to do this via DPlay. Because DPlay is a decent short video sharing platform that integrates into the Steem blockchain, allowing you to upload and view the videos on the IPFS Network.
But just for info;
- That it is just a demo version whith a few bug and issue. You will need SteemConnect AND your posting key for sharing a video. It's just a SteemConnec-Wordpress disagreement. We are trying to fix this issue and use JUST SteemConnect. We will solve all bugs and issues as soon as possible.
Dplay's purpose and target audience
We aim to be a platform where video content producers and consumers can get maximum efficiency for minimum time. We want to encourage users to shoot short and creative videos by putting a time bar. We will reward those who are able to do this. In order to receive a prize, they will need to use their talents, skills and knowledge to interact with other users and create better contents. Our focal point is to increase communication and creativity. We aim to reward creative contents from 20 to 60 seconds that users share via DPlay. At this point, we want to mobilize the video content production on Steemit. That's why every Steemian is in our target audience.
How can you use DPlay?
You can only share content via Dplay. Using wallet options and giving upvote/flag isn’t allowed on DPlay. You will only share your content. We aim to create a safer environment on this. You can share your video over the IPFS network, between 20 and 60 seconds with DPlay. In addition, you can filter content shared by other users category and prize-based, and also you can share contents for your other social media accounts. DPlay is basically a sharing and filtering platform and input operations are performed with SteemConnect. We don't take your password in our database. We offer a simple interface to the users for this.
DPlay's reward system and content categories
DPlay is a global content sharing platform, so it only rewards English contents. Also these contents must be original. The content will be rewarded according to the category and qualifications. Categories in which users can produce mainly content:
- Entertainment: In this category, users share funny videos like sketch, vine and prank videos.
- Reaction: In this category, users share their reaction videos to people-products and events.
- Survey: In this category, users share the videos they produce for the topics that Dplay sets daily. With this category, Dplay aims to learn the opinions of users in various topics and encourage them to produce more content.
- Challenge: In this category, produced videos are shared for 1 minute contests organized by users or Dplay.
- Talent: In this category, users share videos they are trying to show in 1 minute of any capability they have.
- General : In this category, users share videos about anything which couldn't belong any category.
Each category has its own reward rate. The principle of rewarding original and quality content is the main purpose of DPlay. In addition, DPlay offers the opportunity to earn a steady income from donors who provide delegations. This makes it an attractive investment tool for everyone. Just like @dtube, @dsound and @dmania, it takes some of the prizes in DPlay. These prizes are used for further development of DPlay, funding, server and advertising costs, and payment of donor share.
DPlay's 2018 roadmap
Dplay wants to reward the maximum number of members in 2018, develop a short video culture on the blockchain system and provide a comfortable content production and tracking platform for its users. Here is our roadmap for this:
- Develop the Dplay.io interface and make it more user-friendly and stable
- Reward more content creators, find more support for it
- To offer Dplay-App for Android and IOS users and to mobilize video production.

Fraud?
A few questions that should be answered before anybody uses this
1.) As far as I can see, there is no entry generated on the Steem Blockchain by posting a video? Or why is this: https://www.dplay.io/video/salvation-day-celebration-6737253 not shown as a entry on the account @matematikciemre
2.) If this is the case, why would people use @dplay where they can't get votes when there is @dtube / @dlive where they can do the same + get votes?
3.) If this is not the case, how high are the beneficiares set for the videos?
4.) Why do you ask for the posting key (as @vegeta pointed out) when you say you don't need it since you use steemconnect?
After reading a few other comments, even more questions have come up:

Might be a way to get access to posting keys to upvote other accounts. I hope I am wrong but keep your heads up everyone. Even though we use steemconnect they still ask for posting key before uploading.

NOT A SINGLE WORD in your post states that this is a demo version! Why are you releasing a non-working demo version where you want the users keys?
And why didn't you answer to the most interesting question - 4)?
I am sorry to say that, but it just looks as if this is some kind of fraud to get users posting keys...
I'm not the developer so I asked him and edited my comment. Please check again. All user keys stay the user localstorage, not our servers. We take two times because of SteemConnec-Wordpress disagreement. We are trying to fix this issue and use just SteemConnect.

5 . Of course users can be upvote each other.
6 . We couldn't solve Ipfs issue yet. We didn't saw this bug before this post. And this post for get some feedback and saw bugs. We solved steemconnect key issue. You guys just attacking or we feel like that. We aren't fraud. We are a group of good intentions who are just excited and want to achieve something. This is our first software project. Yes, we have bugs, but we are solving them one by one. I think we just announced a little early because we were excited.
We will take the site on update. When we solved all bugs and our offical interface will be ready, we will open again. This post just an announcement about project and aim to finding bugs. Thank you for helping us about this. See you soon. Steemon.

@theaustrianguy you literally just made my whole day with this. Demand transparency! Sorry @dplay , dtube already offers all of this and has delegation to back everything up. Until you guys put out a more finished product I won’t be touching this with any of my keys. Much love.
Look at the reward. Come and up-vote @steemfiles . Here is the latest announcement in English. Steemfiles does not only work in English, but also Spanish, Polish, Chinese, French and German.
Up-vote a project that works now. You can even use it. Please upload things people will pay for. I ask for the posting keys as a way to authenticate the user. I don't use Steem Connect at all, now.

It was literally only a few weeks after the initial DTube launch, and he asked me about copying the title ...
Also I've tried your videos and they don't seem to load from IPFS but from your own server. You copy the DTube launch title, make false promises, I don't believe it's good for the ecosystem.
Another nice information, that IPFS is not used :D And another point on my above list why I think this is just fraud and/or a cheap way to get money....
The videos literally don't load from IPFS by the way. Slapping on SteemConnect login to WordPress and a 49 Dollar theme isn't a good way to get delegations, moreover if this is a demo version... why announce it?

Bring something new guys, you are just making an extension of the things which are already on table.

Yeah @dromzz, Look @dplay, we left with the same thing! We have dtube and dlive which do the same stuff with videos. Adding a single feature and calling it something new is not actually something new!
It's hard for people to innovate when they see an easy money opportunity by just copying.

Well this is a demo version but of course a fair voting and reward system is our first goal. We will upvote contents on DPlay when our official interface will be ready.

I guess this is dtube in another name.
The videos we have created on the platform are entertainment based and maximum 60 seconds. The intention is that people get a chance to prove themselves in a short time. We have no contact with Dtube. Our concept is different.
I like the idea of a short video platform. Sometimes we just want to look at something quick and not a 1 hour documentary.
How is your concept different? Users can upload funny and short videos both on @dtube and @dlive...

It is not fair that they only reward content in English, it is not fair for those of us who speak Spanish.
Well it's not fair for all local languages but our priority is to be a global platform for users. After that we can work for local languages.
This project sounds nice. Dont bother what they say about posting keys. Many of websites ask info if the website want to post it in your name.
The way it functioning is that if you want to login you must use pass..
If you make post on that website and want to be posted also on Steemit, the Steemit ask you for posting key so it could show it under you account.
Dont live in illusion that you dont need to put posting key to some website and still to be published on Steemit in same time. It would be like i post it on facebook and that post are posted on youtube without entering any login info. That is impossible.
But there is steemconnect who should read you info or whatever if you are connected to Steem as that user (using headers or cookies) and to use that info to post content instead of you on Steemit (you see? still sharing keys anyway) so we can be all skeptic about stealing info.
The safest way would be sharing button to Steemit i think or copy/paste.
You want to do it on this old way. Be my guest, i dont want to make one post two times.
In that way i want to check this new cool thing (Dplay) and help them build it on a good way and make users to have more fun.
