Supernal Chronicles #3

in #video6 years ago (edited)

Throughout the week I’m to make several of these posts, detailing the content I enjoy and what I gain from it. It’s necessary to share what we enjoy and I want to do that with all of you. If you’re looking for something new to experience and are curious of what other content creators I flock towards, then I hope these chronicles can be of benefit to you! Every 48 hours or so I’ll have a new post with links and thoughts on each video/music/artwork etc.

The Value of Life

The story that Sean talks about is so simple and eloquent, it perfectly transmits its idea to the viewer. Sean has a lot of great videos where he talks about stories and the message within them, bringing about hopeful messages that help guide us through life. We must understand that the value of an object is relative to its place within an environment; an object may have less or more value depending on what surrounds it. Applying this story to our lives we must then surround ourselves with people and places that value us highly, so much so that our value becomes priceless. The universe will naturally test us in this manner by having people come into our lives and disrespect our value to them, giving us perspective towards our individual value in relation to other humans. Expanding on this further, we can learn how to notice the patterns that exist within those who value others less than they value themselves; if you value yourself more than other people, then other people will genuinely value you less and you’ll eventually become of no value to anyone. Certain ideologies have led people to devalue life to the point of genocide, completely obliterating an entire group of people who are perceived to have no value. Let’s all learn from history and the stories within it to build a better world for each other, for we are all one unified entity.

Terence McKenna - Our Purpose

What Terence says is entirely true, as much of what he does is combine philosophical reasoning with scientific data. Eventually, in the far future, our solar system will become engulfed by our star which has expanded into a red giant. We understand the nature and life of solar bodies, known as stars, which helps us realize the imminent danger we face; all the more reason to develop the ability to traverse the galaxy so we avoid absolute destruction from the natural cycle of our host star. It seems likely that we’ll be reaching mars in the near future, and from there over the next several centuries we’ll slowly begin to harvest the asteroid belts, check out the moons of jupiter and saturn, traverse the large oceans of neptune and build outposts on the farthest reaches of our solar system. As we are so intelligent and now have highly intelligent machines, we’ll very likely never face the ‘wounding’ that Terence is referring to. In fact, it’s entirely possible that we’ll be able to trap our host star in a dyson sphere and siphon it’s energy until the very end, allowing us to build a massive entity out of our solar system and traverse the universe.

Potion Seller

I haven’t a clue how I missed this delicious meme. Absolutely golden. Some of the best memes are as simple as this one, dipped with a bit of juxtaposed surreal imagery and a basic story. The first 10 seconds is all I need for this to give me a smile.

Ramen Shop in Japan

Ramen, Udon, Soba, whichever you prefer it’s all delicious. I’ve been going through some food videos lately and came across this peculiar one, and boy I hope to visit this when I visit japan in the future. Owning a business is no easy task regardless of what it is that you’re doing. Certainly the food business is a tricky one because you can get people sick, its quick work and might not make much revenue. The true value of any position you work in your life is developing a hopeful volition that drives you to progress your tasks every day. I have much respect for this ramen shop owner as he works a lot, and honestly probably does well financially because of it. Building your world in the way you know to be best, and adding some aspect of value to the larger body of society is all we each need to do.

3D Printed House

3D printing a fascinating technology and it’s growing at a fast pace. We already have large-scale printers that can work with concrete and glass, able to effectively build small houses such as this. What’s valuable about 3D printing a house is how much cheaper and sturdier it would be than a regular wood-based home. As the industry grows and more of the building-machines are available, I would imagine seeing these all over the world. A lot of people aren’t buying houses, especially young folk like myself, because the houses are too expensive and often too big. While you usually get a house with expectation of having a family, you can do this with much less space. Added on aspects of self-sufficiency, it seems much more efficient to do the following: buy land, build 3D printed(3DP) house on land, basement would be nice too honestly, setup solar panels and battery packs, setup or connect to a local WISP ( Wireless Internet Service Provider ), utilize a water-catch system and water-purifier, get some chickens for eggs and setup and maintain a micro-farm to grow every vegetable you could ever need. Self-sufficiency is a big trend currently as its much easier and effective than ever before.

Daicon III & IV opening animations

Daicon is a 1980’s anime convention( ’con’ is short for convention), which has become famous for these opening animations. Within these animations are loads of references to what was popular at the time, much of which is highly iconic even to this day. Daicon III builds some lore of a little girl who finds a giant radish that she pilots into space, while Daicon IV has that same girl coming back as a developed woman in a tour de’ force animation. Anime like this is the pinnacle of what can be done, and surprise surprise the creators of these two animations were the folks behind Gainax. Gainax is most famous for Gunbuster, Evangelion and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Gainax sports some of the best animation, aesthetically pleasing art and great stories. Anyone who’s interesting in anime, or has yet to see anything created by Gainax, do yourself a favor and watch the films and shows created by Gainax and their off-shoot studios: Gonzo, Khara & Trigger.
