Why do people collect video games?
Videogame collectors are becoming more and more. A considerate amount of people fill up countless shelves of video games, old and new, and admire the experience of acquiring the game, its boxart and the accumulated look of dozens of similar boxes sitting next to each other.
But why do we collect video games?
Is it just childhood nostalgia?
Is it the human nature of ownership?
Is it the primitive hunter-mammal instinct that we still hold in our DNA?
Is this a cultural trend of our times which is spread via the internet, the YouTubers and the collection videos?
There may be more reasons, and people discuss them over, again and again in online forums. Each of us has our own perspectives, personal experiences, and preferences from video game collecting and videogame hunting.
There is one discussed reason, the "investing" aspect, but I have to say this is for me more of an excuse than a reason that triggered collecting. None collects retro video games to invest. The motive is never the financial gain, and all of us who collect know that very well.
I am a videogame collector, a classic games aficionado and lover of finesse. I am new to steemit, and I am here to share with you my exciting, rare, obscure, and interesting videogame finds and experiences. I have an online presence as prospectively_retro.spective (Instagram username). Collecting for me is a passion bridging reality and the heyday of innocence. The picture above is from my personal collection. This is the retro game room: One of the two room areas with video games, where all pre-2000 games are organized behind beautiful IKEA glass cabinets.
So, what do you think? Why do people collect videogames? If you are a videogame collector, what are the reasons that you believe deep inside trigger you to continue the hobby?

Once again, thanks for your support!
Because it's a way to express part of our identities. And it's something we enjoy doing. I don't do it much myself because of financial limitations.
For many, it turns out to be the meaning of their life. Indeed. A reason to keep going..
Congratulations @dimzic! You have completed the following achievement on the Steem blockchain and have been rewarded with new badge(s) :
