Up to six explosions per hour are recorded in the Fuego volcano

The volcano of Fire of Guatemala, that the past 3 of June made a violent eruption with balance of at least 169 dead people, registers today until six explosions per hour, thus it informed it local means.

The National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology, reported that the colossus, located 50 kilometers west of the capital, releases ash at 4,300 and 4,700 meters above sea level.

According to the scientist, there is ash fall in the Panimaché, Morelia, Santa Sofía, Sangre de Cristo, Palo Verde and San Pedro Yepocapa villages. As a result of the activity, avalanches are registered towards Las Lajas, Cenizas and Seca ravines, he warned.

The Insivumeh said that due to the rains that are forecast for the afternoon and evening of this Thursday, August 30, the descent of lahars will continue through the ravines of El Jute, Las Lajas, Ceniza, Taniluya, Seca and Mineral, as well as by the river Pantaleón.

The powerful eruption of the Fuego volcano on June 3 also left at least 256 missing and more than 1.7 million affected in the departments of Escuintla, Sacatepéquez and Chimaltenango.
