Do We Really Need to Government?

in #voluntary8 years ago

Many people say we need to government, it is merely a question of what form of government is best...

Well, people also once claimed that monarchy was the only way, it was merely a question of what king was the best...

That is what drives me to ask this question today. I don't know anyone today who wants a king, but it was once considered the only way. How many better things have we missed because we were not willing to question the norm?

People argue over politics all the time. Why not question the need for them altogether? If government is merely made up of people, is there anything people can't accomplish that government can? If people came up with a government, that is better than most; why quit coming up with better societies? Perhaps it is all in our heads that we need government. Perhaps society would thrive with only a little governance and no actual state.

Anything that the government does, can be done much more efficiently on a local level.

I challenge you to ponder this for just a bit. Anything that gets done by government; really is just getting done by people with titles attached to their names. In light of that, is what they are allowed to do, right? Is there anything they cannot accomplish without the magical title?

Are you sure we need government? Is it possible that we might be ready to try something better?

But who would build the roads?!?

I am always slightly amused that people think we need government to build roads. I mean you can drive by a construction crew, and see who builds roads. Shocking, I know, but people build roads...

I govern me. You govern you. That's the kind of government I can endorse.
