It's very simple. Block.one are doing a snapshot. They're providing that snapshot to the Everipedia team. IQ is not an erc20 token. They will distribute the tokens across the EOS holders once the blockchain is launched using the snapshot provided by block.one.
That's much simpler than launching an erc20 token, arranging an airdrop and trying to secure it from cheaters and then swapping for another token after the EOS launch.
Ohkay! So you mean they can take the snapshot even before the launch of EOS blockchain but will distribute the airdrop only after EOS launches. Makes sense.
No. The snapshot will take place when block.one freezes the EOS tokens which is at the end of the EOS ICO. The snapshot won't be taken before then.
