Kyrgyzstan including prices and directions

in #walkwithme5 years ago

In the winter I visited Kyrgyzstan (January 2020), Altin Arashan trekking was said to be impossible due to snow (information heard from locals).

So there's nothing to do in Caracol in the winter? Not like that. All-in-one winter sports and skiing can be done at 3040m above sea level.

As other posts were rarely visited by myself like me, I decided to write this because of lack of information!

In particular, the ski camp is here first.

For price information, please refer to this place (in Russian, but if you turn the translator, you can understand what it is about)

The question is how to get from here to downtown Karakol and where to rent equipment.

According to Mapsmi, Mashuroka 101 is said to go to the ski resort, but it is a great thing to ride.

It is only a 40 minute walk from the place where you got off the entrance to the ski area. If you borrowed equipment from the city, pick it up.

If you're confident in hitchhiking, try it. The Kyrgyz people I've seen were very friendly and will probably do you a favor.

I am a poor backpacker, so I did not rent equipment at the ski resort. Renting in the city is much cheaper.

The equipment rental fee is also listed on the ski site above. Please note.

Let's visit this place first.

It is literally in the city centre. It doesn't matter if you don't stay here. It's only important that the staff speaks English and is friendly!

You can get a business card from a connected travel agency here. English is also available. If you're confused, contact by phone or whatsapp. The reply comes almost immediately.

When I contacted, it was said that the tour agency provided 350 round trips to the ski resort (shared vans, departing at 8 o'clock every day, returning at 4 o'clock) and equipment rentals between about 500 and 700. At 4 o'clock anyway, the ski lift should not come back. Unless you're staying at a ski resort.

As a result of scouring around and finding out, the round trip transportation costs are also

The equipment rental fee is also recommended because this place is the cheapest.

And another reason to recommend this place.

The Karakol Ski Resort sells a lift ticket (1200 cotton) and a card to use the lift. The card is 200 som, but I'm going to lend it to you, so I asked you to return it. You don't need to buy a card once you write it and you don't need it anymore. Because there is no refund.

However, I did not use it only to know. Luckily, a local family who stayed in the same hostel said he was going to a ski resort and had a car, so he could get it.

For reference, equipment rental was done with 500 friends (ski + stick only. If you borrow something else, the rental fee will be higher). You have to leave your passport, so be sure to take it with you!

Either way, you can go to the Karakol Ski Area, buy a ticket and enter, and there is an observation deck at 3040m, where you can ski. It is a high-level standard. I looked like a beginner (rather than a real second), but with a ski, I went to the lift to prevent the safety personnel from going. Instead, instead of skiing, if you change your shoes, you can take a lift to the observation deck. The staff say it is dangerous, so if you are not confident in your skiing or boarding skills, change your shoes. You can store your ski equipment in the baggage storage area next to the ticket office (100 pieces of luggage storage fee), go to the observatory, leave your shoes again, and go skiing.

It is cheaper than riding in Korea (about 30,000 won) and is a natural snow ski resort. Besides, the view from the 3040m observatory is really cool, so it is highly recommended if you go for a caracol in winter.

If you are confident in skiing, when would you go skiing at 3,000 meters?!

There is a cafe in the middle of the ps starter slope where you can use wifi.
