The Mahabharata War, also known as the Kurukshetra War, is a central event in the Indian epic Mahabharata. It was fought between two groups of cousins, the Pandavas and the Kauravas, for the throne of Hastinapura. The war lasted 18 days and took place on the battlefield of Kurukshetra.

The Pandavas, led by Yudhishthira, represented righteousness (Dharma), while the Kauravas, led by Duryodhana, were on the side of greed and pride. Many great warriors and kings from different kingdoms joined the war, including Bhishma, Karna, Arjuna, and Krishna, who served as Arjuna's charioteer and guide.

The war ended with the victory of the Pandavas, but it led to massive destruction and loss of life. The Bhagavad Gita, a sacred Hindu scripture, was spoken by Krishna to Arjuna during the war, imparting important spiritual teachings.

The Mahabharata War symbolizes the eternal struggle between good and evil, and its lessons on duty, righteousness, and the consequences of war are still relevant today.
