Why WATER is TRANSPARENT?

Why does water appear as a transparent substance?
Water is considered a substance that allows a significant portion of light to pass through and doesn't absorb much of the visible light spectrum. Water molecules are composed of hydrogen and oxygen atoms, and these molecules are polar, meaning they have positive and negative ends.

This polarity causes water molecules to interact with other molecules in their surroundings. However, these interactions usually allow visible light to pass through the water rather than blocking it. Therefore, water is transparent because light can freely pass through it.

Nevertheless, if there are solid particles, dissolved substances, or gas bubbles within the water, these elements can affect the transparency of the water, making it less clear. So, clean and pure water generally appears more transparent, while dirty or contaminated water may be less transparent.
