Web Development: others?

I've been learning html,css and php, and re-learning sql and Java. I've been making webpage after webpage from scratch, and learning a bit of php regarding database driven websites.

-I find myself loving every minute
-I keep on wanting to do more

Was early web-dev like this to anyone else?
Has is stayed this way for you? Has been much fun to far...besides a bit of the php.

    I've also wanted to get into apps, which may be easy since I know java probably the best. Are apps as easy+fun as web development, or can they be?
