Anniversary of the most Amazing wedding I attended...!!!
On this day last year i attended one of the most amazing wedding i have seen in my life. We all have read and heard that marriage is something which unites two hearts no matter how far apart they are. And it is something which the hearts look forward to, irrespective of differences in caste, culture, religion and ethnicity. And i happened to witness this saying.
On February 19, 2017 my Nepali friend married the love of his life, a Canadian girl whom he met while volunteering for an NGO; same place I met both of them and the same place to host the wedding.
With subsequent visits from the Canadian girl for various volunteering programs their love grew and they decided to tie the knot.
The wedding happened as per Nepali tradition. The groom donned the traditional Nepali outfit the Daura Suruwal(resembles indian kurtu pajama) clinched with patuka(belt) which is decorated with swastik & om symbols. The bride much like indian brides wore a red saree embroidered with gold thread and dotted with sequins along with green borders and a red dori tied around the hair bun adorned with sequins and woven wired decorations.
The bride, instead of mangal sutra, recieved a tilhari(stranded necklace made of green pote beads) from the groom.
The wedding indeed brought people of various ethnicity attending the wedding( Nepali, Canadians, Indians , a French girl doing an art project at the NGO, BRITHISH school kids visiting for humanitarian trip) together to witness this extraordinary amalgamation of two souls and two very different cultures.
What made the wedding more special and one to be etched and all of our memory was the decision that instead of having a big fat wedding, the money will be used to feed the poor slum children.
The wedding concluded with a small reception very much like indian reception.!
LOVE TRUELY HAS NO BOUNDARIES...!
Thats an amazing wedding but i missed it , god bless the couple .
