My weight loss journey

in #weightloss7 years ago (edited)

It has been a battle for sure for my entire life. Loosing weight, I have probably lost and gained over 1500 lbs. This time it seems to be sticking with me. I think there are several reasons that I have been successful this time. The biggest reason is that I have 2 daughters and a wife that I absolutely adore and would do anything for, you kind of need to be healthy to chase around after 2.5 year olds! The second reason is financial gain, I entered a contest where I have to pay $100 a month for 6 months and if I can keep the weight off I double my money, I love money. There was no way I was going to lose $600! The third reason is social accountability, some family members and myself created a Facebook group and told each other we would post updates and keep each-other accountable, in addition I have posted updates on my personal Facebook page and its amazing how far the encouragement goes. When all your friends are giving you virtual pats on the back and telling you how great you look and to keep it up it really does inspire you to keep pushing forward. So how did I do it? I think the first and biggest factor was cutting back on alcohol. I went from drinking 4-8 drinks every night to going stretches of time no drinks, we call them AFD's (Alcohol Free Days) it almost became a contest in our Facebook group on who could have the most AFD's in a row and if you had an AFW (Alcohol Free Week) you were working close to breaking that Zero for the week. Breaking the Zero is what we call it when you get on the scale and move into that new weight bracket, I just broke a Zero and went from 260 to 259 at the time of this post. The next thing that really helped me was doing Herbalife 6 days challenges. You drink a smoothie for breakfast and a smoothie for lunch and a normal dinner. The smoothies are really tasty and filling and its not hard to get used to the routine, especially if you are doing it with someone and you have a Ninja blender or something similar. In parallel with all of these things that I mentioned that have helped has been working out. I try to work out for at least 30 mins each day. I find a good show on Netflix or Amazon prime and the time fly's by. I hope you like and are inspired by my weight loss journey, in 9 months I have lost 75 lbs. My goal is to lose 100 lbs and keep it off. I will continue to post updates on here and if you have any questions or suggestions feel free to add a comment.
