Weiss Ratings - My version of crypto ratings as I actually know about Github, Blockchain, and the real history of projects - Part 1
Reading the ratings from Weiss, I can tell right away these people have no idea what they are talking about. I spent almost all my time totally immersed in crypto since mid to late 2013, creating crypto communities with around 120k people, and I have worked on several cryptocurrency projects and know countless developers personally, and I talk with blockchain devs daily as I work with them.
I will only comment on projects I have researched, if I have not, I will skip them as it takes a lot of time to properly research.
BITCOIN A (Started the entire revolution, currently the entire ecosystem depends on a healthy Bitcoin, many believe the Bitcoin devs are the best Blockchain devs)
ETHEREUM A (Much of Coinmarketcap is ERC20 Tokens, that is all ETH, massive Network effect that will be almost as hard to overcome as Bitcoin)
RIPPLE C (Not really a cryptocurremcy or decentralized, but giving it a grade anyway...)
BITCOIN CASH F (Brand Heist contains most all value - what would the price be if it was called just Bcash?)
CARDANO C (Could be A after release, right now just ERC20 token, has potential)
STELLAR B (Slightly more decentralized version of Ripple by the original founder that had issues with Ripple Labs and broke away)
LITECOIN A (The first fair launched Alt coin with countless immitations)
NEO A (Strong China angle, and China will likely go pro crypto sooner or later)
EOS B (Still just ERC20 Token, but lots of potential)
NEM A (Strong demand in Japan)
IOTA C (Tech uncertain, very early and risky, I would not use their wallet and that is saying something)
DASH B (Lots of original tech evolved from Quark, has the instamine, but for those that don't care it is a good project, for those that do, avoid)
MONERO A (Perhaps the best privacy coin forked from Bytecoin, community of trolls, but they have a point now and then)
TRON F (They blended some white papers, stole a name from a movie and added some hype)
VECHAIN A (Masternodes like DASH with a strong use case for the blockchain for authentication and tracking, great partnerships)
BITCOIN GOLD F (Just another garbage brand heist, you can profit, but this coin has no point other than "free money.")
ICON A (Sort of like a NEO for South Korea, and with very interesting tech)
QTUM F (This is by the Bitbay scam dev, a notorious scammer with many aliases. This is a SCAM just based on it being by a scammer, far as I am concerned)
ETHEREUM CLASSIC D (This was created because of stolen funds being hard forked away on ETH, if you believe otherwise you are a naive fool that black hat hackers used to cash out their coins)
LISK D (This was based on Crypti that had no adoption and was already "dead," they lied about a partnership with Shapeshift during the ICO so I find them dishonest and rate them accordingly)
OMISEGO A (One of the most promising ETH projects)
STEEM A - (Has strong network effect)
ZCASH A - (Great team and tech, one of the best anon coins,, some do not like founder rewards, but it is a way to pay devs)
VERGE B - (I know the dev, take that into account as I consider him a friend, and the market cap is quite high. Although I wish him the best and a very high price is a good problem to have)
BINANCE COIN A - (I had my doubts, but they have proved themselves so far and many are copying their ideas now)
End of Part I - If people like this, I will do the rest as I already have the information in memory. Disclaimer, to a point this is personal opinion and not financial advice, and if I have a bias on the coin I will also state it. Lastly, I only hold a couple of these projects (Part I) as the price is already high on most of them.
wait, Litecoin is an A and Bitcoin Cash is F? You've got to be kidding me. They have abt the same size of community and BCH can process more tx/sec. Also, the entire crypto space does not depend on Bitcoin. Maybe it did in the past, and perhaps there's a lingering effect of it now, but Bitcoin is slow, expensive and largely irrelevant for day to day use cases.
Fuck yes! Good read and I will be following you. Zcash I would argue A+ with paid devs and the solution to the 51% volatility. No double spending and both Z & T addresses.
I agree that he Weiss list was garbage, there wasn't one A rating on their whole list I believe. Your list is quite nice, but little overly harsh on Bcash and Tron in my humble opinion.
The ETH/ETC fork was a premonition of things to come for BTC. Bcash was inevitable. The crowd has spoken, everyone calls it Bcash so brand heist is null. Also, Ver had Bitcoin.com, so it kind of goes both ways. As for TRON, I relate these open source ideas in crypto to music and Igor Stravinsky's quote, "great composers don't borrow, they steal".
I want more please! Thanks for sharing, cheers.
Good points, and this was sort of a rant in a way. In hindsight I would adjust some of the ratings, but this is a quick and dirty list from memory, and of course I have my own bias.
Hey @cryptoclub,
I agree with your rating of Bitcoin. While it does have its own flaws, it surely was the coin the started this revolution.
Check out the post I just made on the increase of price of Steem after Weiss' ratings release and don't forget to follow :)

Followed!
Nice, I agree with most of the As you gave, although I consider BTC a B- and BCH a C+. BCH has the advantage of nothing to lose and can fight BTC for mining power, as both are the only tokens to use the ASICS (afaik). BTC has too much to lose and while the devs are solid, the reality is they are getting out completed by all the other great projects out there.
part 2 please!
Damn, this list is maybe even more bullshit
Maybe you are just full of shit or holding some scamcoin on the list? I will go with that one.
Great stuff James as always...would love to see more
Great article, although too short arguments for each coin. Please update the article, so that each coin contains at least 10-20 sentences-long arguments. Same request for the upcoming 2-nd part.
Well, I don't have the time for that. Maybe I could do a paragraph for each next time.
Awesome! Yes, please keep going!
